Your challenge:

We are recruiting for an experienced IT Manager who will be responsible for the management of a major department / function within the Information Technology organisation. In this role, you will focus on IT development, IT Technology and business systems. You will be accountable for the development and execution of IT strategies which support the internal business capabilities as well as managing the development and establishment of department standards and procedures.


• Manages a major department, function, or geography within the Information Technology organization. Focuses on IT development, IT technology and/or IT business systems analysis.
• Oversees all steps of system development life cycles to assure conformance with established standards.
• Interfaces with other departments to establish and analyse technology service needs.
• Provides direction and assistance to complete analysis of systems, networks, enterprise technology, software, and/or other related IT technology projects and programs.
• Develops long and short-range strategic operating plans for the implementation and deployment of IT Services.
• Monitors and coordinates the installation of new and enhanced systems with user departments.
• Determines the appropriate staffing for assigned IT Services. Directs the selection and training of personnel within the limits of organization administrative policy
• Responsible for Service Level Agreements or Operational Level Agreements for assigned IT Services.
• Manages the performance of direct reports by defining accountabilities, establishing performance objectives, providing feedback and guidance, and ensuring that all policies are understood and followed.


Skills required:

• University Degree in Computer Science or a related discipline plus generally eight years of directly related experience.
• Demonstrated ability to perform management functions such as: managing staff performance, managing employee relations issues, identifying training needs and planning staffing levels
• Assisting in long range operational planning, recommending annual operating goals and budgets, developing strategies to achieve goals, and maintaining budget performance.
• Detailed knowledge of the delivery of quality IT Services.
• Demonstrated ability to perform at the highest level of proficiency utilising tools and applications to complete assignments.
• Ability to work on special projects to enhance internal system functionality from the operational business perspective.
• Requires excellent communication skills with an effective and approachable style that engages others and builds credibility with all audience levels no matter what their experience, background and expectations.
• Applies judgment and acts according to the UL mission and standards of ethics and integrity.
• Self-motivator, independent, cooperative, flexible, creative.
• May be required to travel internationally
