We are looking for an HR Business Partner, to be based in San Jose, who can provide strategic human capital and business support to senior leaders across our newly launched solar business, GAF Energy. The business spans across the country, with a large cluster of employees in the Bay Area (from San Rafael, to San Jose and San Francisco). Reporting to the GAF Energy President, with functional reporting into Standard Industries HR, this HR leader will be a strong partner to the GAF Energy leadership team and serve as a trusted point of contact across the workforce, ensuring organizational effectiveness and supporting recruiting and onboarding requirements in a high-growth startup environment.
The ideal candidate will build effective, trusting relationships across multiple levels of leaders in the organization to support the implementation of critical talent strategies. S/he will be business-oriented and practical, while also bringing relevant expertise in the areas of organizational design, hiring, onboarding, employee relations, engagement, and change leadership. S/he thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced and high-growth environment, and seeks to learn and grow as the business continues to develop and take shape. This position will primarily be focused on partnering with the leaders in the GAF Energy business, as well as managing remote collaboration across the broader Standard Industries and GAF HR functions based in the New York/New Jersey area.
What Will You Be Doing
Providing HR business partner support to the GAF Energy President and leadership team, offering thought leadership on organizational and people-related strategy, and supporting hands-on execution.
Working (both remotely and in-person) with an exceptional team in a high-growth startup environment.
Providing hands-on support in engaging with and vetting prospective candidates as they interview. Providing coordination support, conducting candidate interviews, and completing onboarding for all new hires in the business, offering a welcoming and transparent experience throughout.
Partnering with managers and other key stakeholders on the identification, escalation, risk mitigation and resolution of employee relations issues.
Supporting and coaching managers on driving success across their teams, addressing performance issues, and delivering feedback to foster employee development.
Coordinating and partnering closely with other members of the Standard and GAF HR teams to support business leaders in delivering HR programs to the business, including leadership development, performance management, annual reward process, engagement programs, etc.
Adhering to the highest degree of professional standards and strict confidentiality on matters that require discretion.
What You Need To Succeed
8+ years of HR Business Partner/Generalist experience, partnering directly with senior leaders
BA or BS degree
Demonstrated ability to remain flexible, agile and hands-on in an ever changing, high-growth and "scrappy" startup environment
Willingness to learn, grow and take on expanded duties as business needs evolve
Lead with team-first mentality and a flexible, hands-on approach
Proven ability to develop relationships and partnerships (internal and external) at all levels of the organization, exhibit strong leadership and influencing skills, and implement HR initiatives locally
Functional experience and demonstrated success in a high-growth, high-accountability startup environment with expertise in leading large projects, executing organizational change and senior level problem solving
Critical thinking skills with the ability to take sizable problems and break them into small manageable pieces
Ability to handle ambiguity with ease
Superb judgment and integrity, including excellent decision making skills and a sense of urgency
Ability to work both tactically and strategically to get business needs met in a dynamic environment. Willingness to roll up sleeves and get engaged in the details while also able to step back and think strategically about the business needs
Proven attention to detail and the ability to effectively handle multiple priorities a must, along with the ability to problem solve when appropriate
Exceptional verbal communication and presentation skills
Knowledge of G Suite platform and Workday are a plus
