Job Title: Senior Accountant - PMMA

Directly reports to: PMMA Operations Accounting Manager

Other matrix reporting (indirect) - Plant Manager Bristol, PA; Finance Director/Manager PMMA


The Senior Accountant is primarily responsible and accountable for the operations accounting, reporting and maintenance of financial results for the PMMA Business, as well as Operations Accounting for the Bristol, PA plant. The PMMA business comprises 3 individual businesses: Resin, Sheet and MMA, which must be independently maintained.


* 40% Provide accounting support to the plant manager to ensure that the overall financial results of the business are maintained:

o Review all reporting and analysis for actual results, budget and forecast needs concerning plant financial data. Update Finance Department and Business management regularly to ensure that any significant financial issues or areas for concern are raised and addressed timely.

o Control and take ownership of all plant, warehouse, and tolling financial functions pertaining to inventory and the production operation in order to accurately state the plants financial position. Ensure that the \\"true\\" cost to manufacture products is captured; Bills of Materials regularly reviewed and maintained, absorption rates and methodologies verified, costing updated as needed.

o Ensure the timeliness and accuracy of the monthly close including an understanding of all plant variances, impacts of inventory counts on results and cost center charges. Partner with Plant Operations to analyze production yield variances, conduct \\"root cause\\" analysis and the development of product costs.

o Involved actively in plant operations to observe and communicate meaningful financial impact of plant activities along with results; provide recommendations to improve performance and enhance strategic decisions. Advise and provide guidance to plant staff on the management of plant spending.

* 40% - Responsible for all accounting operations for the PMMA business in the United States, under the direction and support of the Operations Accounting Manager.

o Ensure the integrity of the accounting contained in the financials: establish and implement control processes that will guarantee 100% compliance with all internal and external accounting policies and procedures.

o Ensure the accuracy and reliability of the monthly income statements and other financial reporting.

o Analyze cost center activities.

o Safeguard the business' assets by maintaining accurate balance sheets and reconciling timely.

o Provide any recurring or ad-hoc analysis required to maintain accurate books of record and meet audit requirements.

o Assist with internal and external audits

o Ensure compliance with sales and use tax requirements.

* 15% Provide financial support to the Specialty Polymaides Business Management

o Partner with the Financial Team to provide meaningful analysis of the business to the business team by explaining financial results, evaluating new projects, preparing ad hoc analysis/forecasting requests and participating in other initiatives to define and improve business profitability.

o Provide solutions to assist business on ways to improve financial performance not just score keeping.

o Be a valued member of the business management team, able to utilize knowledge of system functionality and production costs to support strategic initiatives.

o Organize, develop and ensure completion of annual business budget activities.

* 5% Improve efficiencies by developing and implementing better Business/SAP processes.

o Work with the business management teams, cost accounting support group, plant manufacturing and ITeam to identify bottlenecks and implement appropriate changes.

o Foster a better understanding of the plant processes and enhance the ability to identify improvements.

o Have a clear understanding of all SAP processes and their effect on the financials.


o Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance

o 5+ years of progressive accounting experience. Costing/cost accounting experience strongly preferred.

o In Depth knowledge of general accounting principles

o Experience in a manufacturing environment preferred; Process Manufacturing a plus

o Experience using SAP or other ERP system

o Ability to create ad-hoc and moderately complex analyses

o Proficient with Excel, including pivot tables/more complex functions

o Experience in accounting related activities for projects preferred

o Ability to work with minimal supervision


* Occasional travel to King of Prussia HQ and possible overnight travel to other locations based on conferences or other team meetings.
