Our ideal Senior Automation Engineer will join a small talented and experienced automation and data management team to develop and maintain systems to enable the rapid advancement of cellular therapy candidates from pre-clinical development through commercialization.  The Automation and Data Management team develops automated software and hardware systems which streamline the execution of assays in our development and manufacturing processes.  The individual will be part the team and act as both an individual contributor and a technical leader for junior members of the team.

Objectives of this role include, but are not limited to:

  • Active participation in the technical strategy for assay automation.

  • Automation of specific assays as part of our strategic roadmap.

  • Provide technical assistance to other members of the team in order to improve their ability to implement new assays, troubleshoot problems and streamline workflows.

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Identify new automation technologies which can be added to our portfolio of standard platforms.

  • Coordinate with Director of Automation and Data Management to ensure a unified strategy between sites and to develop and implement common platforms.  

  • Provide key strategic input to projects and cross-functional teams, including analytical development, process development, QC and manufacturing implementation.

Skills/Knowledge Required:

  • Experience working with scientists and/or scientific data

  • Demonstrated ability to implement complex projects from planning to implementation

  • Demonstrated ability to work successfully in complex, cross functional teams

  • Experience working with liquid handling systems

  • Experience working with centrifuges, plate washers and similar devices

  • Experience with scripting and lab automation

Preferred  Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in C# and the .NET framework

  • Experience mentoring and providing technical leadership

  • Experience working in GxP environments

  • Experience with statistics and statistical methods

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in a scientific field
