Functional Description:

Develops new or modified process formulations, defines processing or handling equipment requirements and specifications, and reviews processing techniques and methods applied in the manufacture, fabrication, and evaluation of products. Involvement may begin at any step from pilot plant to full-scale manufacturing. Coordinates design requirement review with appropriate engineering/scientific personnel to ensure compatibility of processing methods. Compiles and evaluates test data to determine appropriate limits and variables for process or material specifications. May conceive and plan projects involving definition and selection of new concepts, equipment automation technology, and approaches in the processing or development of new or improved processes.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:


  • Participate in Process Development Activities for the Research and Development group
  • Organize and coordinate Research and Development builds within a pilot production facility. Provide guidance, train, and work with pilot plant operators on engineering level builds.
  • Assist in scaling up equipment and processes from prototype to pilot to full scale manufacturing. Provide design and build input to design and automation teams.
  • Exercise judgment within defined procedures and policies to determine appropriate action.

  • Work within project timelines and provides updates and feedback to project leadership.
  • Assist in implementing processes, mechanical tests, and fixtures/jigs for assembly, inspection and test.
  • Provide collaboration on operating procedures for new stations, equipment, and processes and trains operators

  • Characterize process steps through implementation of measurement systems, part inspections, and MSA. Optimize build process, in process inspections and capability of manufacturing output.
  • Provide technical oversight to pilot applicator and wearable production for multiple projects and project teams.
  • Identify process risks and track mitigations to resolution.
  • Develop and maintain project timelines and provide updates and feedback to project leadership.
  • Create, refine, and publish process and equipment documentation within a regulated quality system.
  • Design and develop equipment components and fixturing required to meet process goals from concept to implementation. Collaborate on material specifications and drawings, calibration and preventative maintenance requirements. Release controlled documents.

Required Qualifications:


  • Proficient in the use of SolidWorks or equivalent CAD software
  • Familiar with data analysis methods and analysis software
  • Detailed oriented with strong time management skills.
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal) and personal interaction skills.

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Medical Device experience is a strong preference
  • Experience is manufacturing or sustaining environment

Experience and Education Requirements:


  • Typically requires a Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline, and a minimum of 2-5 years related experience or Master's degree and 0-2 years' equivalent experience.

Travel Required:


  • Up to 25%
