Working cross-functionally, the Manager II, Licensing will focus on strategic planning, business development, and vendor relationship management of existing and new licensing accounts at a global level. As well as working with cross functional teams internally to optimize creative, financial and brand performance of GameStop's licensed portfolio. Day-to-day licensing operations for designated accounts will be owned by the Manager, while large strategic and financial decisions will be made with the VP. The Senior Licensing Manager will interact with his or her supervisor as needed. Most activities are completed without a supervisor's advance approval. This role is generally characterized by moderately high levels of scope and complexity, and high levels of independent decision making.


  • Manage licensing accounts as Key Point of Contact, maintaining strong partner relationships
  • Work closely with Merchandising and Private Label teams to create and maintain annual product line approvals and adhere to contractual requirements on product development.
  • Working with Accounting, prepare quarterly licensing forecasts and yearly budgets for licensors, based on projection of wholesale revenue from PD and merchandising teams.
  • Create pitch decks for potential licensing partners with solid, consistent financial, creative and branding content
  • Negotiate and review business terms and contracts, collaborating with inside counsel and GME licensing team as needed
  • Drive research & analysis regarding licensing trends to educate the greater business
  • Collaborate with licensors to define possible co-marketing initiatives and present to executive team
  • Expert negotiation abilities to generate best results regarding licensing categories, royalty rates and agreements
  • Continuous improvement on licensing process to drive best practices regarding accurate forecasting and risk mitigation
  • Continual management throughout the lifecycle of the licensor contracts across global business units
  • Present and sell-in new licensing opportunities and licensed product development ideas to key internal stakeholders
  • Liaise with Finance to ensure accurate, on-time reporting of royalties on a quarterly basis
  • Ability to travel to meetings, conferences, and trade shows when required

  • Accredited Bachelor's degree in Licensing, Merchandising or related field from an accredited program required
  • 7+ years of experience in licensing, marketing or consumer products role required
  • 5-8 years of intellectual property management experience preferred


  • Strong knowledge of Licensor operations and how to work with different functions at licensors to ensure best possible deal terms for GameStop
  • Highly proficient presentation skills to craft decks and effectively influence audiences of varying responsibility
  • Proficient at forecasting for internal and external stakeholders by brand and category
  • Proficient project planning skills, including the ability to organize, prioritize and control job responsibilities in order to meet deadlines in an environment with overlapping and potentially conflicting priorities
  • Highly proficient ability to read/comprehend complex displayed and/or printed statistical data/information and reports
  • Highly proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office software programs, especially Outlook, Excel and Word
  • Strong preference for candidates with experience working at a major IP holder/ Studio or for a Consumer Products company in a licensing capacity
  • Knowledge of Product Development a plus
  • Familiar with video gaming industries and pop culture brands
  • Expert ability to communicate effectively with others using written and spoken English including the ability to provide clear, constructive feedback to team members
  • Proficient relationship building skills, including the capacity to predict and manage behavior, build and leverage cross-functional partnerships within and outside of the organization, and leverage influential leadership
  • Expert ability to work under demanding time constraints and production goals
  • Proficient ability to solve functional problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
