The Assistant Systems Engineer will assist with developing, coordinating and maintaining an enterprise level Windows, MacOS, and Linux environment as part of an extremely fast paced, integrated ECN team effort in support of research and instructional goals of the College of Engineering, Purdue Polytechnic Institute, and the Office of the Vice-President for Research and Partnerships (EVPRP), which includes Discovery Park.
Six (6) months of hands-on experience in one of the following systems: Windows, MacOS, or Linux systems administration
Consideration will be given to an equivalent combination of related education and required work experience
For example: a high school diploma with two and half (2.5) years of experience
Technology skills to work with a wide variety of computer hardware, software, operating systems, peripherals, etc.
Communication and interpersonal skills to work with a wide variety of faculty, staff and students in a multitude of environments like instruction, administration, and research
Ability to troubleshoot in a variety of environments
Ability to lift and carry 25-50 pounds frequently and 60 pounds occasionally
Hardware maintenance of advanced computer, peripherals, and networking systems
Demonstrated experience with two or more of the following: Windows, Mac OS, or Linux
Familiarity with software redistribution techniques (i.e. SCCM/CM, Puppet, etc.)
Purdue Engineering experience
