Job Summary

The VTH and ADDL Marketing & Communications Manager will serve as a member of the College of Veterinary Medicine’s communications team, dedicated to marketing and promoting the services offered by the Purdue University College of Veterinary Medicine’s Veterinary Teaching Hospital (VTH), Equine Specialty Hospital (in Shelbyville, Ind.) and Animal Disease Diagnostic Laboratory (ADDL) to clients and potential clients, referring veterinarians, the veterinary medical profession, and other stakeholders. This position is responsible for developing and executing a marketing strategy for each unit including face-to-face interactions, print, and electronic means to promote the services offered, while building positive working relationships with clinicians/faculty and staff to share the great work being done at these facilities. Working with unit administrators, the position will determine venues for engaging with veterinary medical professionals, clients and prospective clients; arrange participation in trade shows, events, exhibits, and other engagement opportunities; and serve as the units’ representative at those venues. The position also will develop key marketing message content and stories for media releases, newsletters, websites, social media, and other publicity materials that promote the services provided by these units, and serve as the lead contact for media requests and interviews. The ultimate goal of the marketing strategy is to grow business for these units while fostering and facilitating positive customer relations.


  • Bachelor's degree in marketing or related field
  • Three years of experience developing and implementing marketing plans that include face-face, print, web, social media, email, and digital media interactions
  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills, including experience in public and media relations
  • Ability to manage complex processes, interact positively with diverse populations, think creatively, and work independently
  • Skills: Writing, editing, posting to social media platforms, Microsoft Office computer programs (Word, Excel)
