Job Description:

Morris Group, Inc.,one of the largest machine tool distribution networks in North America, is seeking an ambitious and conscientious Staff Accountant for our Windsor, CTlocation. This is an excellent opportunity to become a key member of an accounting department that represents 8 of the Morris Group Inc divisions. This role will provide the right individual an opportunity to develop with a dynamic company in a fast-paced, growing industry.

Job Description

The Staff Accountant will be responsible for performing accounting functions including, but not limited to:


  • Monthly/weekly reconciliations (Ex. Customer Deposits, Inventory, intercompany, etc.)
  • Balance Sheet review - Prepare a review, set up amortization schedules, and diligently follow up on items that require attention.
  • Complete and distribute a weekly dashboard to presidents/executives illustrating the current position for the month.
  • Supporting month end close process (pre-close checks/balances, module close, post-close financial reporting etc.)
  • Filing monthly sales tax returns
  • Monthly sales commission statements (80+ salesman)
  • Payroll submission
  • Maintaining Fixed Asset Schedules for all 8 divisions
  • Monthly recurring journal entries
  • Assisting with annual audits (Bank, Fiscal, and Tax)
  • Ad hoc reporting
  • Responding to inquiries from offsite operations via global email/phone
  • Preform all other related duties as assigned to support the finance department
  • Adhering to all company policies, procedures and business ethics codes

Job Qualifications/Competencies


  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or other business major is required.
  • At least 3 years of experience in a related position.
  • Reliable transportation
  • Comfort in Microsoft Suite programs
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, listening, and organization
  • Strong attention to detail and superior team works skills are a must
  • Solid technical skills/abilities
