Dematic is searching for a Mechanical Engineer in our Brecksville, Ohio (Central Operations) office. The successful candidate will have 2-5 years of experience working with the application of material handling solutions, including mechanical design and machine control, with a good understanding of warehouse control software and operational considerations.

The position will be required to perform the following duties:


Specific Responsibilities:

  • Completes the design of complex systems that integrate hardware and software.

  • Completes complex material specification, schematic preparation and appropriate follow-up. 

  • Completes recommendations for ideas related to productivity improvement, cost reduction and improvement in customer satisfaction.

  • Performs complex technical interchange and knowledge transfer for both processes and application of products to system design.

  • Project Engineering and Commissioning at customer sites.  Communicating, training and working with customer for final system design.  

  • Good Communication with customers is a requirement.  

  • Up to 40% travel

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identifies and resolves more complex problems and applies problem-solving skills in order to deal with most situations.


Typically BS/BA in related discipline or advanced degree. Certification may be required in some areas.



  • Demonstrates and applies a broad knowledge of field of specialization to the successful completion of moderately complex assignments.

  • Successfully applies knowledge of fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures of particular area of specialization.

  • Demonstrates knowledge of organization's business practices and issues faced and contributes to problem resolution of those issues.

  • Very good understanding of Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Proficient with AutoCAD.


Typically 2-5 years of successful experience in related field and successful demonstration of Key Responsibilities and Knowledge as presented above. Advanced degree MAY be substituted for experience, where applicable.  Successful track record of supervising and quoting systems projects.


Direction of Others:

• Provide general guidance or train support staff.

• This position does not directly supervise others.

• Primarily intra-organizational contacts and external contacts.
