The Impact You’ll Make in this Role
As a(n) Maintenance Mechanic, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:
Completes required safety and regulatory training. Works to be accident free.
Installs, maintains, repairs and modifies mechanical equipment and systems used in production, laboratory, offices and facilities areas.
Diagnoses, repairs and adjusts bucket elevators, bag houses, conveyors, pumps, boilers, compressors, rotary equipment, air handlers, plant process and support equipment.
Sets up and safely uses shop and portable equipment such as electric drills, welders, angle grinder, band saws, plasma torch, oxyacetylene torch, brake, hoist, and bridge crane.
Notifies supervisor if any equipment is not operating, and any upset conditions affecting quality of the product.
Works in areas where the environment may be either hot, cold, humid, dry, dusty, dirty, confined spaces and at heights.
Handles, packages, labels, or transports RCRA hazardous waste and responds to hazardous waste spills.
Participates in monthly crew meetings, and in training of new employees when needed.
Performs other related duties as required to promote team effort in achieving department objectives.
Follows established departmental housekeeping, safety practices and Standard Operating Procedures.
Your Skills and Expertise
To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M is looking for candidates who must have the following qualifications:
Possess a High School Diploma/GED or higher (completed and verified prior to start)
Possess a two (2) year technical degree in a maintenance field OR minimum of two (2) years of maintenance experience in a private, public, government or military environment.
Possess a current and valid Driver’s License
Must be able to work weekend work, rotating shifts, extended hours, short notice shift coverage, holidays as needed, and supply their own toolbox and set of tools.
Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:
Possess a two (2) year technical degree and five (5) years of experience in a private, public, government or military environment.
Welding certificate from an accredited institution
Related experience in a heavy industrial environment
Strong troubleshooting, computer and problem-solving skills
Ability to work independently or with teams
Strong written and oral communication skills
Ability to operate, maintain and repair tools and equipment
Relocation: Is not authorized
Must be legally authorized to work in country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H1B status).
