Koch Agronomic Services, LLC is seeking a Senior Technical Agronomist to join a dynamic team, focused on enhanced efficiency fertilizers in the broad-acre agricultural and turf and ornamental market segments. The Senior Agronomist will directly support 5-6 Strategic Account Managers in a region of the US to be determined, based on the comparative advantages of the Agronomy Team and the needs of the organization. The primary focus is to deliver technical product information and training to customers, consultants, farmers, and internal stakeholders. Secondary emphasis is to manage a regional portfolio of field trial projects within a third-party research program, to help the business evaluate existing products and new technologies. This position requires excellent communication skills and the successful candidate must be able to present technical concepts to audiences with a diverse range of agronomic knowledge. The Senior Agronomist role is expected to bring a strategic leadership perspective to the team and will be developed with an intent to grow the successful candidate into leadership of people and programs.
A Day In The Life Typically Includes:
The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to:
Educate KAS regional sales team and the sales & agronomy teams of our customers, to position KAS product offerings with a competitive agronomic advantage in the market
Develop relationships with customer sales and agronomy personnel, farmer/managers, researchers, and independent consultants within the region, with emphasis on strategic collaboration with key accounts in high-value territories, managing top-level relationships, and aggressive growth
Manage a regional portfolio of field research projects to help KAS Agronomy evaluate current and emerging products, with emphasis on highly collaborative research relationships, forward-focused technological innovation, advanced data analysis, and marketing claims development
Engage with Innovation Team and Research & Development Team to provide strategic thought leadership in the agronomic sector to evaluating new business opportunities and aligning the agronomic research program to long-term business need
Serve as an industry liaison and KAS media representative, becoming widely recognized as a thought leader and influencer at the regional and national level
The successful applicant will have the following characteristics:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong interpersonal communications and ability to manage customer relationships
Attention to detail and ability to prioritize based on value creation potential
Experience with Microsoft Office products (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
What You Will Need:
5+ years of agronomy experience
Experience presenting technical information to diverse audiences
Experience designing and conducting research trials and analyzing results
Knowledge of soil fertility and fertilizer products
Specialized knowledge in a complementary aspect of agronomy, such as crop protection chemicals, biologicals, seed, precision agronomy, or cropping system sustainability
Certified Crop Advisor or Certified Professional Agronomist or are willing & able to obtain the certification within your first year of employment
M.S. in Agronomy or closely related area
Ability to travel up to 50% of the time
What Will Put You Ahead?
10+ years of agronomy experience
10+ years of experience delivering technical presentations
Experience in fertilizer manufacturing, retail, or distribution channels
Experience supervising or leading a team
Ph.D. in agronomy or closely related area
Ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs.
Ability to sit, stand or kneel as needed
Ability to work outdoors in all types of weather
