Job Summary

The Tableau (BI) analyst / developer will be a key partner in helping to build and convert Cigna Group Insurance reporting processes across various functional areas (Claim and Service Operations, Sales and Distribution, etc.).  This position is responsible for the coordination, management, design, development, and maintenance of standard and custom reporting solutions. Using visualization expertise, this individual will design, implement, and provide ongoing support and maintenance to visual reporting platforms in Tableau and other systems.  Role will report through the Finance department and focus on operational and management level reporting.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Understand business problems and opportunities in the context of the requirements and recommends solutions that enable the organization to achieve its reporting goals

  • Convert and automate existing reports from legacy reporting platforms to Tableau, as well as enhancing and developing existing and new reports as assigned

  • Research, plan, recommend and implement dashboards and data visualization in Tableau to meet the stakeholders’ business requirements

  • Support multiple business areas with the understanding of business and data requirements, and iteratively designing visualizations for initial concepts and prototypes that can be presented for feedback

  • Draw upon a full range of Tableau features to design, develop, enhance and support Tableau visualizations including, but not limited to, interactive dashboards, scorecards and reports

  • Build and publish interactive Tableau reports and dashboards along with data refresh scheduling

  • Create Tableau Scorecards, Dashboards using stack bars, bar graphs, scattered plots, geographical maps, line/pie graphs, Gantt charts, etc.

  • Effectively utilizes features and Best Practices of Tableau and visual analytics to maximize impact and utility of visualization products

  • Manage a repository of re-usable data visualization templates and views

  • Support Activities to document, evolve, and communicate artifacts developed using Tableau.

  • Prioritize and coordinate multiple work efforts

  • Actively participate in departmental Tableau developers learning group

  • Act as a mentor / trainer to team and department resources

  • Additional duties as assigned


  • Bachelor’s Degree program with a focus on Computer Science, Information Systems, Finance, or Business Administration

  • Knowledge of insurance data and concepts a plus

  • Requires strong Tableau and SQL skills

  • Passionate about telling stories with data
