Job Description:

The Role

This position is a member of the Active Safety Test team with the primary objectives of executing and analyzing dynamic homologation tests, while maintaining safe and reliable performance, and conducting tests in accordance with Tesla test procedures.

Responsibilities

* Execute vehicle level dynamic homologation test activities per test plans developed by the engineer in collaboration with key internal stakeholders and external resources as needed

* Configure, maintain, diagnose and sign off test vehicles for safe testing

* Schedule test tracks and internal and external dynamometers and prioritize use of resources to meet tight, changing deadlines

* Instrument vehicles with data acquisition and automated-driving robot systems

* Conduct homologation tests according to official test procedures, and witnessed by agency officials where applicable, as well as custom development tests, quality checks and correlation tests

* Follow Tesla test plans and procedures to record & analyze data, document and report results

* Coordinate calibration of data acquisition equipment, dynamometer, maintain records and certificates

* Coordinate design and custom test fixtures and sensors for data acquisition equipment

* Work on continuous improvement of Tesla vehicle-level and dynamometer test procedures

* Support development and validation tests in various engineering fields on as needed basis

Requirements

* Ability to prepare and operate test vehicles for homologation tests

* Ability to operate and use diagnostic scan tools, scopes, meters, and other test equipment

* Ability to interpret regulations and test procedures in collaboration with homologation team

* Ability to analyze measurement data

* Ability to communicate effectively with internal stakeholders and 3rd parties

* Ability to read wiring schematics and instrument vehicles with driving robots/accelerometers/

* sensors/etc., and operate data acquisition systems, such as National Instruments or SoMAT eDAQ) for data collection

* Understanding of measurement equipment maintenance and calibration, upgrades and improvements (mechanical, electrical or software-based) required to optimize resource up-time.

* Experience with Dynamometer related hardware and software from companies such as MAHA, AVL, Horiba, St hle, LTG, Hioky is preferred

* Experience with MS office tools (Outlook/Excel/Word/PowerPoint), and Adobe products

* Ability to follow oral, written, email, and text message instructions

* Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work, including the public

* Effectively handle multiple priorities, organize workload, and meet deadlines

* Work in a team-based environment to achieve common goals

* Bachelor Degree in Engineering, or documented work experience in conjunction with an Associate Degree in Engineering/Engineering Technology, or Automotive Technology degree from an accredited institution and equivalent work experience and expertise

* Must have valid driver s license

* Specific experience with EPA and ECE coastdown and dyno test procedures preferred

* Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally up to 25% is required
