Provide Shared Services Expense functions for US Commercial Expenses, as well as analysis of enterprise liabilities. Controller for Bad Debt Expense and Deferred Acquisitions Cost. Completion and review of various STAT Exhibits, and MLR reports. Consolidate and review Enterprise Balance Sheet Analytics.
Analyze variances for US Commercial operating expenses for actual periods of analysis. Providing US Commercial CAO detailed analysis for BFO package.
Coordinate "Out of Period Adjustments" and Emerging Issues for the Shared Service Expense Team.
Coordinate and review enterprise balance sheet analytics for accrued expenses and other liabilities. Collaborate across all operating divisions to ensure all critical drivers of liability changes are properly categorized.
Partner with Enterprise Financial Planning and Analysis, developing full year projections for bad debt and deferred acquisition cost. Identify monthly risk and opportunities to Financial Planning and Analysis. Collaborate with Sales Incentive Compensation Controller to ensure deferred acquisition cost projection is aligned to sales incentive compensation exhibit.
Execute and or review various annual studies related to deferred acquisition cost and claim handling.
Review premium tax accruals and associate premium tax incurred expenses
Review STAT balance sheet and income statement analytics
Assist in review and or preparation of state surveys
Assist in review of 3rd party provider expense entries.
Execute on all SOX Controls
Support enterprise business initiatives; including integration of acquired businesses and divestitures
Review impacts of new GAAP and STAT pronouncements and impacts on current accounting and process and implement changes as needed.
Bachelor's degree in business administration, accounting, finance or related field. MBA Preferable
Experience within Financial Reporting Organization
Knowledge of GAAP and STAT accounting concepts
Successful experience operating in a matrixed environment
Strong writing, communication, interpersonal and presentation skills
Proven ability to deal with ambiguity
Proven ability to interact effectively with all levels within the organization
Strong analytical and problem solving skills
