ASCO 2020 Summer Internship Program

At ASCO, a division of Schneider Electric, we view internships as a chance for students to complement their classroom training with real-world experience. Internship Goal:

Provide college students with the resources necessary to challenge convention by thinking innovatively, performing effectively, and executing perfectly.

This position will interact with and/or lead cross functional team to assess / implement / and optimize projects including but not limited to systems implementations (barcoding), lean initiatives, inventory optimization, etc.. Will act as liaison between various functional areas (inside and outside of operations) to keep projects on schedule and on scope. Will interface with all levels of the organization to identify opportunities, assess current state processes, propose improvements, and implement change.

MAIN MISSIONS AND TASKS:


  • Support the Material Requirements Planning

  • Initiate Purchase Orders and secure Delivery Confirmation

  • Build relationship with suppliers and ensure on-time delivery of complaint material

  • Understand the Parts and their Production Processes

  • Understand the root cause of delivery and quality issues, and appropriately engage other internal stakeholders, to escalate

CAPABILITY AND SKILLS:


  • Basic understanding of Electronic Components (Printed Circuit Board Assembly, Integrated Circuits)

  • Basic understanding of Purchasing (ERP System, Master Production Schedule, Materials Requirement Planning)

  • Project management

  • Influencing skills, good communicator

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • Active college student having completed at least 2 years toward a Bachelors degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering.

COMPETENCIES:


  • Desirable skills such as presentation ability, strong PC background

  • Must be a fast learner that shows initiative, is proactive, has good decision making skills, is creative and energetic, demonstrates a positive attitude, has high analytical ability.

  • Outstanding communications skills (verbal and written).

  • Able to work in the office environment and in the production areas.

  • Computer skills - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, digital pictures; AutoCAD experience would be a plus

  • Leadership, club and/or organizational involvement

  • Ability to demonstrate and excel in the above listed competencies

  • Capable of working independently on assignments, willing to accept mentor coaching

  • Ability to work effectively in a diverse work environment

  • Previous professional or internship experience related to this position

  • An active interest, fresh ideas and a desire to learn about manufacturing

  • Microsoft office
