Reporting to the Senior Director, Reputation & Corporate Citizenship, the Director of Social Impact leads an area that is one of the biggest drivers of the companys reputation. The Director is a subject-matter expert, internal and external leader and communicator responsible for helping Blue Shield become an industry leader in corporate social responsibility. The Director, Social Impact will lead a small team of professionals that executes strategies to achieve the companys social responsibility goals with a focus on transforming Blue Shields internal and external reputation, supporting the company on becoming a Great Place to Work and generating maximum social impact. This position is responsible for managing the corporate-led social impact giving and community engagement activities, as well as the measurement and evaluation associated this work. He/she will also partner with the Corporate and Internal Communications teams on the development and execution of communication strategies related to the companys social impact efforts so that we meaningfully and measurably improve the perception of Blue Shield among key constituents.

General responsibilities include:

* Support the development of the long-term strategy for Blue Shields corporate-led social impact efforts, identifying opportunities for Blue Shield to make a real positive difference in the world.

* Collaborate with the Reputation team and other partners to ensure the overall strategic direction of Blue Shields corporate social responsibility goals are well aligned.

* Manage the companys social impact investments, including the statewide signature program on youth resiliency.

* Be accountable for the effective measurement and evaluation of our social impact programs to ensure accuracy and awareness of these programs. Track and report progress on budget and key performance indicators.

* Oversee extensive employee volunteerism and charitable matching gift program that involves thousands of Blue Shield employees each year.

* Partner with corporate communications, internal communications and brand to articulate the value of our corporate-led social impact efforts to key stakeholders.

* Serve as internal expert on corporate social responsibility issues. Benchmark competition and industry best practices.

* Evaluate and identify business opportunities and partners which drive social impact, lift Blue Shields reputation and brand, supports the companys growth strategy and engages employees. This includes the identification of key sponsorship opportunities to demonstrate our commitment externally.

* Develop a high-performing team with a focus on professional development, coaching and positive mentorship.

* Significant experience of ten (10) or more years in a corporate social responsibility, sustainability or communications roles.

* 5-7 years of management experience leading a corporate social responsibility team or department with budget accountability.

* Has a good understanding of the business strategy and challenges and can identify how Corporate Citizenship issues can impact specific business networks.

* Deep knowledge and experience in impact measurement and evaluation, specific to the social sector, and possesses experience in utilizing a broad range of both quantitative and qualitative tools and methods for analysis.
