JOB OVERVIEW

The production coordinator is a highly organized problem-solver who plays a key role in ensuring the smooth operation of The World’s multi-media newsroom.  They support editorial staff with a wide range of logistics and administrative tasks including staff scheduling (in consultation with managers), travel planning, ordering supplies, meeting scheduling and Zoom set-up, and general organizational support. They are a key conduit between radio and digital, ensuring that as the show goes to air digital editors have accurate and up-to-date story descriptions from radio producers. They help maintain our project management software (Asana), contacts database (Airtable) and other on-line platforms, ensuring that permissions are up to date and staff are appropriately briefed. The coordinator also reviews all listener correspondence and coordinates responses as appropriate. They are responsible for ensuring that each edition of the show is properly archived and undertake routine content audits for PRX.  They also oversee an inventory of portable reporting equipment.  The coordinator will also keep internal email distribution lists and the internal staff guide up to date and coordinate the orientation for new staff. The production coordinator actively thinks about  how the show interacts with and serves the audience. This person is an essential part of the show to the audience, the staff, and leadership.

RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Provide staff and operational scheduling (in homebase)

  • Provide editorial logistics and administrative support

  • Conduct meeting set-up and scheduling

  • Internal and partner communication

  • Conduct archive and content audit

  • Responsible for supply purchasing and travel arranging

  • Project management and contacts software upkeep

  • Provide audience correspondence

  • Liaison with IT Orientation coordination

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE


  • 1 year work experience required.

  • Demonstrable experience in organizational support

  • Professional understanding of Outlook, Excel, and personnel scheduling software

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to meet strict deadlines and multi-task with ease

  • An ability to communicate across lines of difference and make positive contribute to a culture that values respect, diversity, and high expectations

  • An audience-first orientation. Can understand the needs and experiences of the show’s audience to continuously improve their work.

  • An interest in news and current affairs and an understanding of news and deadline priorities

  • An ability to work in a high pressure news environment with unpredictable hours

JOB SPECIFICS

This is a CWA Local 1400 union position.

This is a part-time, 24 hours per week position.
