Position: Quote Specialist for MV Drives, Segment Focus: Industrial - DQT4

Location: Raleigh, NC

Job Description:

This position is accountable for AC Drive selection, application review and specification interpretation of Custom Configured drive products and solutions. Position requires technical and commercial competencies to evaluate product and project requirements for complex drive solution proposals. Knowledge of motor control for low and/or medium voltage drive products necessary for successful quotations for these projects and opportunities. Position will be responsible for price negotiation of custom drive quotations. Knowledge and review of commercial terms and conditions associated with project requirements is required during quotation process. Process and industry knowledge of Oil and Gas industry, Metals, Minerals and Mining and Water Wastewater as well as general drive and soft start applications is desirable to interpret customer requirements. Once quote is issued, follow up and response to any change requirements will be required to track outcome. This position will report to the North American Regional Application Center Manager.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide quotations to sales for complex Engineered to Order (ETO) MV/LV drive products. Focus on MV drive systems

  • Specification review of all project documents to determine best solution for quotation.

  • Negotiate custom drive project pricing following established guidelines from management.

  • Accurately determine custom modification costs and market value associated with these options to meet segment profitability business objectives.

  • Collaborate with Custom Drive Engineering, NAM Sales Support Manager and Product Marketing groups to construct bills of materials for complex drive project requirements.

  • Follow up on all quotations and provide input on success in converting to order.

  • Identify relevant customer value propositions to understand drive application requirements.

  • Provide input on quotation tools used to generate proposals.

  • Provide input to Master Guide Specification for use by Field Sales and Channel Partners.

  • Maintain and report trends in product specifications and competitive product offers.

  • Prepare training material for sales classes on specification review, response to exceptions in specifications and Schneider Electric position on segment drive requirements.

  • Engage assigned Field Offices to participate in regular project bid activities.

This job might be for you if:

  • Requirements:

    • A Bachelor's degree in Electrical/ Mechanical engineering or equivalent.

    • At least 2 years of successful experience in the Marketing, Sales or Product Management of Variable Speed Drives. Complex MV/LV Drive System Specification interpretation experience while not required is preferred.

    • Basic Motor Control theory and techniques for applying Variable Speed Drives is required.

    • Process application experience and control of motors used in pumping, compression, conveying, crushing and material handling equipment is preferred.

    • 5 to 10% Travel requirements within North America.

    • Fluent experience and knowledge of MS Office including Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Access. Internal Schneider Electric business systems experience with bFO, SE Advantage and Q2C is preferred but not required.

    • Self starter and effective communicator who is passionate about his/her position and committed to fostering a "team" approach that generate business results.

    • Detail oriented individual that can accurately process data into business systems.

    • Capability to work with Field Sales, Field Quotation and Channel Partners to successfully negotiate pricing on projects.
