The Category Manager will lead and manage the growth strategy for designated product category, including managing the overall product portfolio. Prepare product briefs and pricing strategy, as well as define key features, selling points and product differentiators. Create and update sales forecasts based on assessments of total addressable market, target share position, growth objectives and seasonality. Define product positioning within category and against competitive products. Lead cross-functional new product development team from concept to commercialization.
Create a program vision and strategy for the category, including go-to-market plans, launch plans, sales readiness and competitive positioning. Define key selling and messaging points and partner closely with Digital and Creative Marketing teams to develop collateral and website content to support new and existing products
Ensure that category strategies are highly aligned to current and future business needs and that the supply base is aligned with and capable of supporting these strategies
Guide all aspects of product lifecycle management including pricing, launch strategy, on-going category analysis and end-of-life strategy
Identify and initiate focused projects (sourcing, demand management, etc) and manage pipeline of projects within selected categories to ensure results meet targets
Identify new business growth opportunities; new products, expanded distribution in current customers, new channels of distribution, new customers. Evaluate all opportunities from a P&L standpoint to guide Sales, Marketing and Product Development
Lead product strategy and process driving Monthly Calendar Meeting and Weekly Product/ Marketing Meetings, with Marketing Leadership, Product Management, Product Development and Supply Chain teams
Initiate insight-driven, creative brainstorm sessions with Brand Marketing and Creative teams to support ideation and concepts for new product launches
Conduct ongoing competitor and industry analysis, and reporting, highlighting white spaces opportunities, and strategies to enhance existing portfolio
Remain current on market trends and innovations across all relevant industries, bringing vision and insights to innovation pipeline discussion
Lead development of new products from identification through commercialization
Bachelors in Business, Finance or Marketing
10 years of category management experience
Excellent organizational skills
