Job Description:

City of Ann Arbor Parks and Recreation is proceeding with the hiring of staff for positions at our golf courses, outdoor pools, day camps, volunteer program and field/maintenance work even amid the current COVID-19 pandemic. Managers at this time are conducting phone interviews until in-person meetings can resume at a future date.

Job opportunities include: summer day camp counselors, assistant recreation supervisors, golf course pro shop staff, golf course equipment operators and mowers, lifeguards, swim instructors, swim team coach, livery attendants, crew members, cashiers and grounds maintenance technicians.


Responsibilities include designing workouts, providing skill instruction, coordinating and ordering swimsuits and supplies, supervising assistant coaches, supervising participation in local meets, and sponsoring home meets. May exert up to 20 lbs of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 lbs of force frequently, and/or negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.

Required Skills:

  • Must be a minimum of 18 years of age

  • Previous competitive coaching experience

  • Must obtain CPR/AED and First Aid certification within 30 days of employment. The City offers CPR/AED and First Aid classes, which are free to Parks employees.
