Oklahoma Archeological Survey GIS and Site Files Digitization Project Position:


 


Project Supervisor 


Job Description: The Oklahoma Archeological Survey seeks a grant funded staff-level position to assist with the development of our Geographical Information Systems (GIS) and Site File Digitization project.


Required Education: Bachelor Degree OR an equivalent combination of education/job related experience, AND:


  • 24 months advanced GIS database and digital file system management.


Skills:




  • Experience preparing metadata and other documentation


  • Ability to provide training to junior GIS staff and lead tasks to completion


  • Extensive knowledge of GIS processes and techniques


  • Experience in GIS data development, maintenance, analysis and cartographic processes;


  • Experience coordinating, implementing and maintaining relational geographic databases


  • Experience in assessing geospatial and ancillary data quality, and in developing/implementing QA/QC procedures


  • Experience in digitizing non-digital data from paper maps


  • Experience in project management, implementation and establishing workflows

  • Must be able to supervise staff and communicate directions and expectations effectively


Advertised Physical Requirements:


  • Must be able to communicate and engage in repetitive motions.


Departmental Preferences:




  • GIS applications in archaeology or other environmental field


  • Using FileMaker Pro software


  • Using ESRI ArcGIS, ArcGIS Extensions and model builder, and extensions

  • Knowledge of the geography of OK, including geology, topography, hydrology


Supervision: Team Leader
