The US GAAP/IFRS Accountant will be a key contributor to the Elanco Accounting and Reporting team and play a significant role in the integration of Bayer’s animal health business.  The position is responsible for aligning the accounting policies of Bayer animal health with Elanco’s existing accounting policies and identifying and implementing policy and process changes required to convert Bayer animal health’s financial statements and related information from IFRS to US GAAP accounting.  The position will also be responsible for identifying, quantifying, and recording purchase accounting entries in connection with the upcoming acquisition of Bayer animal health. The position will also assist with preparing accurate, timely and US GAAP compliant quarterly and annual reports for filing with the SEC, including SEC Forms 10-Q and 10-K.  The position will have interaction with other members of the Elanco Accounting and Reporting team, shared services, treasury, tax, manufacturing finance, business development and international affiliates.  This is a fixed duration position.

 
Responsibilities:


  • Review Bayer animal health accounting policies and ensure alignment with Elanco accounting policies

  • Identify and implement policy and process changes that are required to convert Bayer financial statements and related information from IFRS to US GAAP accounting

  • Identify, quantify and record purchase accounting entries for the upcoming acquisition of Bayer animal health

  • Consult with U.S. and international affiliate locations on technical accounting and financial process questions

  • Serve as a key member of Elanco Accounting and Reporting team, responsible for coordinating successful SEC Form 10-K and 10-Q filings

  • Prepare portions of the earnings releases and affiliated presentations and scripts

  • Actively participate in the evaluation and interpretation of changes in US GAAP and the impacts to our Company

  • Perform accounting research and assist in drafting technical position papers

  • Document, monitor and ensure compliance with internal controls in the business development and financial reporting processes as part of our compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley

  • Assist with process improvement initiatives

  • Other project and accounting responsibilities

Basic Qualifications


  • Minimum 5 years experience in Finance function or public accounting practice, with in-depth knowledge of US GAAP accounting, IFRS accounting, global accounting and SEC reporting

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance

  • CPA or Chartered Accountant

  • Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to be employed in the United States. Elanco does not anticipate providing sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H-1B or TN status) for this employment position.

Additional Skills/Preferences


  • Solid technical accounting background with extensive knowledge of current US GAAP, IFRS and SEC reporting requirements

  • Strong written and oral communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead and influence others

  • Recent experience with external reporting for public companies

  • Experience with large, multi-national corporations

  • Ability to perform well under pressure

  • Strong self-management skills and project management skills

  • Solid independent problem solving skills and ability to be innovative and creative

  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize responsibilities

  • This fixed duration position is expected to be for a period of two years.

  • Flexibility during peak closing periods is required.  Overtime may be required on an as-needed basis.

  • Minimal travel.
