Accident Fund Insurance Company of America is seeking a Data Scientist in Lansing, MI.
Job Duties: Develops and monitors models used in multivariate analysis, linear modeling and data mining. Provides technical and quantitative analysis for predictive modeling group. Conducts research utilizing predictive modeling. Interprets data and identifies correlations using both univariate and multivariate analysis. Develops custom, explainable models that enhance business processes to reflect corporate goals, experience, and current market conditions using pattern recognition, evolutionary computation, and machine learning algorithms. Examines and analyzes data to determine optimal modeling approach. Builds models using training, test, and cross-validation data sets. Participates in development of annual budget, goals, objectives and systems. •Leads communication of predictive model results to company. Leads implementation efforts for assigned predictive model projects.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in statistics, statistical computing, data science, actuarial science or related field and 2 years of progressive post-bachelor's experience as an actuary, data scientist, data analyst or related role. Alternatively, will accept a Master's degree in stated fields and 1 year of stated experience. Also requires at least 6 months of experience with the following (which may have been gained concurrently): Predictive and statistical modeling; Database management; Data mining techniques (GLM, clustering, decision trees); Python, R, and SQL for transforming data to create and clean predictor variables; and Machine learning techniques: (2 or more) Generalized Linear Models, Gradient Boosting Machines, Random Forests and Neural Networks.
Experience may have been gained before, during, or after Masters.
