Position Summary

Are you passionate about developing people and exceptional wine?  As Winemaker, you will support the Winemaking team by creating a short-term production plan designed to meet production, quality and sensory goals (picking decisions through the bottling processes). Functioning as a technical and creative resource in wine and winemaking decisions, representing the winery regarding technical subjects at public and trade events infuses even more passion.  In collaboration with Operations functional departments (Finance, HR, Technical services and Grower Relations), your team will achieve quality, style and cost objectives that support the ongoing growth and success of Constellation Brands.


  • Produce & maintain quality of assigned blends & base wines

  • Manage short & long term demand of blends from juice to bottle                                             

  • Assist for crush planning and production

  • Recommend and implement bottle age and release timing for wines

  • May determine quality standard and brand style objectives for some varietals within a brand

  • May assist in developing fruit sourcing strategy

  • Participate in blending

  • Assist with budget development by understanding COGS and factors driving them

  • Collaborate with peers at multiple facilities to ensure style and quality targets are met

  • Evaluate cellar and production for process improvement

  • Taste & evaluate wines and blends

  • Represent brand to trade & consumer

  • Thorough knowledge of local, state and federal government regulations, specifically TTB and state regulations on alcoholic beverage production, distribution and packaging

  • Support safety initiatives and enforce safety rules and regulations to build a culture of safety

Basic Qualifications:

  • BS in Food Science, Enology, (micro)Biology or Chemistry or similar degree

  • 5-8 years’ experience in winemaking

  • 1+ years supervisory / managerial experience preferred

  • Knowledge of winemaking techniques and best viticultural practices

  • Knowledge of Cellar, Lab, Bottling and Vineyard Operations     

  • Basic understanding of COGS                                                                                            

Preferred Qualifications

  • Education or experience in viticulture

  • Advanced skills in MS Suite, specifically in Excel, Access, Word and PowerPoint

  • Exposure to other winemaking regions and different climatic conditions

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills

Physical Requirements/Other:

  • Travel Required: Up to 10% domestic/international

  • Must be at least 21 years of age. Must be able to sit and/or stand for long periods of time and work on a computer for extended periods.

  • Must have a valid driver's license and be able to drive a car and travel via plane/train as needed
