POSITION PURPOSE This position will be responsible for providing maintenance and reliability engineering support at the Burnside (Darrow, LA) site. We are seeking a Reliability Engineer with experience on rotating and fixed equipment with an emphasis on reliability. The ideal candidate will be the owner of the reliability engineering function for the facility, ensuring and implementing best practices to maintain consistent and reliable equipment operations. The site produces sulfuric acid, oleum, sulfur trioxide and processes spent sulfuric acid. PRIMARY DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Provide input and guidance to other engineers, technicians, and plant personnel on critical Reliability Principles, Predictive and Preventive Maintenance Strategies, and Operating Principles of common rotating and fixed equipment 2. Identify, Plan, and Execute component-level Reliability Improvement Projects as necessary to incrementally improve plant performance 3. Leading proactive projects to maintain or upgrade installations of rotating and fixed equipment and related support systems 4. Leading the Reliability Program for all Rotating equipment such as turbines, compressors, valves, pressure vessels, heat exchangers and all other fixed equipment 5. Evaluate equipment failure modes and utilize engineering experience and training to develop solutions for eliminating/mitigating potential failure 6. Monitor equipment performance and evaluate equipment history and failure trends to determine sources of poor component performance 7. Define Condition Monitoring Inspection Requirements and support the Predictive Maintenance Program 8. Support the plant-wide lubrication program and work to continuously improve the program by implementing industry best practices 9. Advise and confer with engineers in design review meetings to give reliability findings and recommendations 10. Review engineering specifications/drawings and propose design modifications to improve reliability within cost and other performance requirements
12. Ensure Safety & Environmental compliance of equipment 13. Lead Minor Capital Projects
QUALIFICATIONS Education / Experience / Background ● Bachelor's degree (B.S.) or equivalent from four-year college in an Engineering Discipline (Mechanical Engineering preferred) ● Minimum 3 years of hands-on verifiable experience in rotating & fixed equipment in a manufacturing facility (chemical industry preferred) ● Minimum 5 years of manufacturing operations/maintenance experience (chemical industry preferred) Knowledge / Skills / Abilities ● Working knowledge of Process Safety Management (PSM) ● Knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems, preventive and predictive maintenance technologies, and condition monitoring and fixed time maintenance strategies ● Familiarity with Non Destructive Testing methods ● Experience working within a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS). SAP Experience is preferred ● Willingness to be available and on call 24/7 as needed due to business conditions ● Other preferred skills ○ Familiarity with national standards such as API 510 & 570 & 653, ASME B31.1 & B31.3, NBIC, NACE SP 0294 ○ Familiarity with various welding techniques ○ Experience working with Highly Hazardous Chemicals/High Hazard Process ○ Manufacturing experience which includes exposure to Safety, Health, Environment, Quality, Maintenance and Continuous Improvement systems and tools ○ Experience in Root Cause Failure Analysis and Incident investigations ○ Demonstrated collaborative problem solving, excellent planning and organizational skills ○ Strong interpersonal and communication skills and team work ○ Strong analytical skills ○ Proactive problem solving and utilization of data in a timely manner PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS / WORK ENVIRONMENT The work environment will include an office setting and working outside year round. Climbing ladders, climbing stairs, working from heights, entering confined spaces, standing for long periods of time, ability to lift 30 lbs are required.
