ROLE DESCRIPTION:

Zoetis is seeking an engineering candidate that will evolve its Diagnostic Connectivity ecosystem, specifically in the areas of instrument connectivity and integration with 3rd party Practice Management Systems (PIMS). The ecosystem is comprised of Ethernet- and USB-connected diagnostic instruments, connectivity hub devices, LAN infrastructure and Internet connectivity. The networking environment includes customer-managed wired and wireless LAN networks, in small and medium size offices. The connectivity ecosystem extends to and includes basic support of Practice Management System (PIMS) integration.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Design and develop software that enables connectivity between individual diagnostic instruments and the diagnostic ecosystem, including both on-premises and cloud components

* Design and develop software that enables connectivity between the diagnostic ecosystem and 3rd party software, in particular Practice Management Systems (PIMS)

* Assist with the definition and evolution of the Zoetis Diagnostic Connectivity ecosystem vision and design

* Stay abreast of new technologies that could be leveraged in the ecosystem design and implementation

* Work with Practice Management System (PIMS) vendors engineering teams to assist with integration with the Zoetis Diagnostic Connectivity ecosystem

* Engage with the Data and Analytics COE team to develop data collection capabilities to enable new product offerings, accelerate research, and improve Zoetis business practices

* Assist with due diligence assessments of 3rd party diagnostic instruments, with focus on connectivity and the ability for the instrument to integrate with the Zoetis ecosystem

* Collaborate with the research and Diagnostic Instrument Engineering teams to ensure that new instruments under development integrate with the connectivity ecosystem

* Troubleshoot and address software bugs related to instrument connectivity that are identified during testing phases and in-field use of the instruments

* Provide remote level 3 support for escalated ecosystem installation and support cases

* Assist in the development of best practice processes, procedures, and training materials for technical support and ecosystem installations

* Manage competing priorities, workloads and activities to support various business initiatives and cross-departmental tasks

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:

* Experience with cloud-based development and IoT platforms

* Knowledge of software design and development best practices, and ability to implement them in practical situations

* Experience with database systems and developing software that uses databases for data persistence

* Excellent knowledge of computer and network architecture concepts, and the OSI model

* Ability to effectively write design documents and specifications

* Skilled in problem isolation and resolution when multiple problems exist

* Possess good organizational skills

* Passion for solving complex problems and making a difference

* Ability to drive a project and work both independently and in a team

* Excellent verbal and written communication skills, which includes the ability to present complex topics to non-technical audiences

QUALIFICATIONS:

* Bachelor s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field

* Minimum 5 years of experience in software development/engineering in C/C++, focused on embedded systems

Minimum 2 years of experience in developing general software systems in Java, C# or C++
