Job Description:

Koch Specialty Plant Services LLC has an opening for a PROJECT PLANNER / PROJECT COORDINATOR . This position for KSPS is to support the Juno Project located in Toledo, OR consisting of detailed schedule development of assigned work scope, generally involving installation of John Zink Hamworthy combustion equipment, flares, piping, mass transfer equipment, and other various mechanical work.
This role is not eligible for Sponsorship. Relocation assistance will not be provided.

Job Responsibilities

  • Interface with contractors to verify work plans

  • Develop, monitor, and maintain schedule for “life of construction project, startup and commissioning”

  • Present/Lead schedule update meetings with project team

  • Resource load/leveling activities within schedule

  • Graphic representation of data such as progress curves, earned value, etc.

  • Interact with all team members and contractors to assist with scope development, logistics and constraints

  • Determine critical path items and communicate to execution team

  • Provide schedule updates and analysis in meeting during execution

  • Update schedule during execution to include scope changes

  • Track manhours/cost for daily reporting

  • Coordinate between contractors and management scope changes, engineering needs, etc.

  • Use knowledge of best work practices and procedures to develop project execution strategy and identify task constraints

  • Actively participate in a strong safety culture.

  • Monitors assigned project cost estimates, critical path, schedule performance, expenditures, forecasts, manpower, cash flow and project earned value.

  • Generates, reviews and submits system reports to provide Project Managers, Construction Managers, and Owner with the information necessary to effectively understand and manage the project. Supports daily, weekly and monthly project updates.

  • Responsible for the development and accuracy of reports. Verifies consistency with previous reports to ensure compatibility and consistency.

  • Effectively identify project risk through analysis to drive competitive projects.

  • Responsible for collaboration and documents including, but not limited to transmittals, submittals, RFIs, and general site documentation as needed.

Education, Work Experience & Skills Required

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing

  • Thorough knowledge of Primavera (P6)

  • 2 or more years of experience with industrial turnaround/construction work package development 

  • 5+ years or more of related industrial plant experience

  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and demonstrated ability to develop scope of work and schedule

  • One (1) or more years of practical experience working with business software such as MS Office, SAP, Oracle, etc.

  • Familiarity with towers, drums, heat exchangers, valves and piping

  • Candidates must be able to meet all company and customer qualifications to access job site including training requirements

Education, Work Experience & Skills Preferred

  • 5+ years or more of related industrial plant experience

  • 3+ years of turnaround planning/scheduling experience

  • Past experience as a foreman or above





  • Candidates must be willing and able to work long hours and all shift schedules that may require up to twelve hours a day, seven days a week for extended durations

  • Candidates also must be able to work in confined spaces and be capable of climbing ladders, scaffolds, and working at heights

  • Must be able to perform work wearing personal protective equipment including but not limited to rain gear, chemical protective clothing, supplied air and air purifying respirators, safety harness, FRC coveralls, hard hat, ear plugs and safety glasses, etc.

  • Respiratory Protection Fit-Testing and Pulmonary Function Testing is required. Additional medical examinations, such as Fitness for Duty exams are required  



The job will primarily be on or around construction/turnaround sites in petrochemical operational units and include possible hazardous environments such as confined spaces and working at heights. Exposure to loud noises, dust, dirt, irritants and smoke may occur. Special Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) may be necessary to control some hazardous environments. Additional forms of PPE may be required depending on the particular project. Safety requirements must be verified and meet standards set forth by client permits, policies and procedures, and be performed in compliance with all federal, state and local laws or ordinances before work activities can begin.
