Not only is Garmin the leader in all-things GPS, but, if selected as a Project Manager, you will provide project management and coordination for moderately complex projects between project teams and other departments in the development of Garmin products. May serve as a Project Leader on small to mid-sized projects in the support of Garmin’s operations.
We are looking for a full time Project Manager for our Operations team at our headquarters in Olathe, Kansas. In this role, you’ll be responsible for leading effective and efficient team meetings, ensuring team members/stakeholders are appropriately informed, and communicating project tradeoffs and decisions to ensure forward moving progress of the project. You’ll also be responsible for supporting creation and maintenance of complex timelines and milestone tracking. Other essential functions include:
Applies project metrics and risk management principles to identify and mitigate potential schedule impacting items
Encourages and motivates project team members to accomplish assigned tasks
Drives the overall progress of assigned projects towards completion, using good judgment in determining when to escalate issues to management
May perform as a project leader on small to mid-size projects
Leverages understanding of product domain to support concept/new feature development efforts
Understands the level of detail necessary to ensure accurate project reporting and consistently provides clear and accurate project documentation
Understands interdependencies of and demonstrated ability to develop good relationships between the various team(s), other Garmin teams/departments and external entities (e.g. customers, suppliers, etc.)
Identifies and resolves possible conflicts
Collaborate and add value through participation in design reviews, providing input, feedback, and process improvement suggestions
Due to the amount of resources and expense exhausted in training for this position, a minimum of one year from the start of this position will be required before an associate is eligible for a job transfer.
Qualified candidates possess a Master’s degree in the disciplines of Business Administration, Management, Operations, Engineering and demonstrated project management experience or Bachelor’s degree in the disciplines of Business Administration, Management, Operations, Engineering and minimum of 2 years’ experience performing a role substantially similar to the essential functions of this job description. Other requirements include:
American Production and Inventory Control Society (APICS) certification is highly preferred!
