Job Description:

Responsible for leading product development within the Pharmacy Product team. Leads identification and documentation of business and technical product requirements, and serves as Product SME through execution and delivery. Leads identification and documentation efforts with Product Managers and impacted enterprise partners to express detailed product requirements through a variety of mediums. Works closely with Cigna Pharmacy product managers, as well as, Pharmacy Product counterparts at Express Scripts, along with multiple , functional areas, including Sales, Underwriting, Finance, Marketing and Communications within and outside of the Cigna/Express Scripts Pharmacy organizations.


  • Drives technical decisions on how the product is structured

  • Responsible for taking an idea of a future product or enhancement and breaking it apart into key development pieces with architect, Agile teams and other stakeholders (epic refinement and use case development)

  • Expected to become expert on how the product will work and systems impacted

  • Supports finalization of go-forward project scope and approach.

  • Leads pre-funding internal research, assessment, and documentation of impacted areas, respective needs and proposed design

  • Identifies impacts to other products across benefits: Pharmacy, Medical, Behavioral, and Express Scripts, buyer groups/client segments, customer-facing benefit documents, client-facing documents (e.g., contracts) and state Department of Insurance filings, based on details of product solution

  • Leads calls with key stakeholders; communicates product solution details back to stakeholders, as appropriate

  • Facilitates the process of expressing product requirements through narrated scenarios; workflow diagrams; draft wireframes and examples of client and/or customer communications.

  • Instrumental in the process of shaping the portfolio epic, program epics and features through active engagement with Value Stream and IT leads and correlated processes.

  • Supports the adherence to minimal viable product requirements; collaborates with business and IT partners/peers to manage scope and mitigate risk to business value.

  • Coordinates with Launch Readiness team as impacts are identified

  • Attends Agile PI planning, sprint demos and other meetings; provides feedback as necessary to ensure business need is met

  • Supports Q&A from Agile and operational teams about product intent

  • Trains development teams on product and product vision

  • Identifies and assesses future enhancements for the product

  • Partners with Product Manager for project/product launch kick-off sessions and ongoing meetings

  • Participates in prioritization of work for Agile teams to deliver on product vision within required timeframe

Technical Skill/Competency Requirements:


  • 5+ years of experience in product development or product owner role

  • Demonstrated understanding of Agile methodology

  • Working knowledge of pharmacy benefit providers

  • Proficient in the use of Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel

  • High attention to detail and proven ability to translate complex concepts into understandable, defined components

  • Ability to navigate ambiguity and a rapidly changing environment

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate professionally and develop strong working relationships with individuals at all levels

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently an as part of a collaborative team in a fast paced, high volume environment

  • Demonstrated ability to work with remote personnel to achieve agreed upon goals and objectives

  • Demonstrated ability to organize thoughts and vision into presentation ready deliverables

  • Demonstrated decision making capability
