The Solutions Project Manager I develops Brokerage solutions and defines the scope of projects to meet customer needs and increase profitable revenue. He/She works with Business Development and Strategic Global Accounts to gather customer business requirements and develop sales strategies for solutions. This position manages projects and works with cross-functional groups (e.g., Operations, Finance, Information Technology, Solutions, etc.) to develop cost effective solutions for customers.
The Solutions Project Manager I prepares proposals, reports, and other project documents to ensure they are clear, concise, and appropriate for the intended audience. He/She conducts project debriefs to identify best practices, process improvement recommendations, and repeatable business models. This position monitors the solutions design and development process, hit rates, and effectiveness of solutions to obtain data for continuous process improvement, increased profitable revenue, and more effective cost control projects. The Solutions Project Manager I analyzes customer workflow processes, compliance requirements, technology, labor requirements, and customer trade profiles to evaluate potential solution options. He/She manages project lifecycles, including project scope, resources, schedule, initiation, start-up/design, building, and deployment to see projects from beginning-to-end.
Communicates modeling strategy with Engineering to ensure consistency.
Reviews project submissions, stays informed of the project status, and escalates project issues to ensure project execution meets the customer needs and UPS financial objectives.
Works with BD in educating the customer to ensure awareness of the strategic implications of logistics decisions and options.
Adjusts solutions and adapts the cost model to comply with project implementation issues raised by UPS Supply Chain Solutions (SCS) or the customer.
Conducts project debriefs to identify best practices, process improvement recommendations, and repeatable business models.
Monitors the solutions design and development process, hit rates, and effectiveness of solutions to obtain data for continuous process improvement, increased profitable revenue, and more effective cost control projects.
Provides Brokerage solutions expertise to other groups within SCS to ensure employees are trained and educated on Brokerage solutions.
Manages the development of data calculations and design criteria to ensure proper input into cost modeling systems.
Analyzes customer workflow processes, compliance requirements, technology, labor requirements, and customer trade profiles to evaluate potential solution options.
Summarizes merits, costs, and risks associated with each solution to develop recommendations for selection of the best solutions for the customer and the UPS SCS.
Assesses Business Needs: Identifies current and future needs of the customer or business; understands how business needs dictate the project’s requirements, project direction, business objectives, and resource allocation; makes recommendations on the solutions-design phase of the project.
Designs/Develops Integrated Solutions to Business Problems: Demonstrates a broad understanding of business requirements or critical elements of a problem; identifies the impact of a problem on multiple areas of the business; recommends improvements to existing processes or programs.
Negotiation: Demonstrates the ability to use negotiation techniques in less complex situations; recognizes the potential impact of negotiation proceedings on the business; gains consensus from involved parties.
Project Management: Develops project management plans and leads the implementation for basic projects of short duration requiring limited coordination and resources; supports initiatives with well-defined project needs and cross-functional roles/responsibilities throughout the project life cycle; manages minimal organizational resistance to cross-functional project demands; employs project management tools and technology (e.g., Microsoft Project, Program Management Group website, etc.) appropriately.
Brokerage Management: Demonstrates a detailed understanding of Brokerage concepts; makes recommendations for changes to solve Brokerage problems.
Work Methods, Processes, Flows Analysis: Describes the general impact of requirements, problems, or inefficiencies on other parts of the operation or processes; conducts basic analyses and identifies issues impacting the accuracy of data analysis.
Bachelor's Degree – Required
