Position Summary:

As part of the High Throughput (HT) Platform Marketing Team, this role will be responsible for the marketing of key NGS applications and methods. This individual will work cross functionally to develop and execute on marketing plans with the end goal of driving systems utilization and new placements.  By developing deep understanding of customer needs and NGS applications landscape, the successful candidate will be a key source of input into new product development and will serve as the Marketing lead for relevant external partnerships.  This individual will work closely with their Marketing counterparts (Product Marketing, Segment Marketing, Regional Marketing) to assure alignment with global, regional and segment strategies. Ideal candidates will have industry-specific product marketing experience, have led cross-functional matrixed teams successfully, and have a history of working constructively with a variety of different stakeholders throughout an organization. A good understanding of the NGS market, applications, and customer base is essential for the success of this individual.


  • Serves as an internal and external advocate for the adoption of HT sequencing methods

  • Defines product solution (including library prep, automation, sequencing and informatics) for key NGS methods, in partnership with Product Marketing, Commercial, Business Development and other stakeholders

  • Partners with Business Development to fill gaps in the required product solution for key NGS methods, e.g., evaluates technologies, drives alignment and recommendations with internal stakeholders

  • Leads cross-functional effort to develop and execute marketing plans to drive increased adoption of key NGS methods

  • Responsible for creation of marketing collateral and sales tools, including, but not limited to application notes, technical notes, cost calculators, and data sheets  

  • Partners with broader marketing team to provide guidance and input into Regional and Segment-specific marketing campaigns

  • Develops and maintains deep understanding of customer needs and market landscape to make customers successful in utilizing methods and to serve as a key input into development of new products

  • Shares customer insights and market trends to internal stakeholders, including executive leadership

Preferred Experience/Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or PhD a plus.

  • Must have at least 7+ years of industry experience in Product Marketing or Product Management

  • Demonstrated experience in technical marketing and close collaboration with Commercial is highly desired

  • Technical knowledge of genomics, next-generation sequencing and molecular biology products is highly desired

  • Demonstrated experience for new product development and management of on market products in the life sciences field is a plus

  • Ability to own both long-term strategy and executional detail

  • Must have strong analytical skills – ability to tie detailed analysis to larger strategy and make data driven decisions is critical

  • Ability to solve problems informed by robust analysis and multiple data points

  • Ability to influence people and diverse stakeholder groups within a global, matrixed organization

  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills

  • Sound business judgment and discretion for managing projects; ability to develop and execute against dynamic timelines

  • Organizational capabilities to drive work proactively
