Job Description:

Overview / Responsibilities

Wood is currently seeking a Project Director - Solar Field Construction with expertise in EPC, Renewables/Solar Construction Projects. This candidate will provide direction and oversight to active projects that include review of budgeting, contract negotiations, sub-contractors, suppliers and change orders. This position will be officed based either in Tucker, GA (our corporate office) or remote location with heavy travel (2-3 weeks per month) to project sites throughout the US

Key Responsibilities:
  • Leadership Accountabilities: Identify, deploy, and manage a high-performing team needed to accomplish business objectives.
  • Promotes a positive and engaging work environment, a ligns individual and team objectives to department and company objectives;
  • Manages, supports and directs project managers development and growth, providing regular, direct feedback on performance and goal progress.
  • Ensure projects are safely constructed, to high quality standard and resourced correctly to complete on time and budget.
  • Ensure projects meet safety requirements for budgeting.
  • Reviews internal and external weekly and monthly project reports, generated by Project Managers, and site teams (1-3 active projects at any given time).
  • Reviews budgets, schedules and cost to complete projections.
  • Develop relationships with sub-contractors, utilities and clients.
  • Prepare and submit requests for proposals, in addition to direction and oversight of the preconstruction teams.
  • Oversees the responses to Requests for Proposals and support the bid process to successfully; negotiates new projects.
  • Generate internal reports and conferences for updates relating to project updates, personnel,
  • Work with business development to create leads and develop relationships with perspective
  • Understand and review Safety Management Systems, Quality Management Systems and Environment Management Systems.
  • Follows Wood safety and security procedures and determines appropriate action.

Skills / Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent (equivalent is 10-15 years of relevany project management experience), preferably in a construction or engineering related field.
  • Must have 10+ years in a similar position with relevant and comparable construction projects.
  • Must have renewables (solar/wind) project experience in an EPC, self-perform capacity
  • Must have a valid current driver license, eligible for corporate vehicle insurance coverage.
  • Must be eligible to work in the USA

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Communicate effectively Internally with executive managers, Directors, Project Managers, Estimators, Project Developers, Site Accountants, Engineering, Legal, HSQE and HR and cross-functional departmental teams
  • Communicate effectively Externally with clients, potential clients, subcontractors and suppliers
  • General construction & operations knowledge
  • Strong business acumen, and an understanding of contracts, contract reviews, b udgeting, budgeting reviews, schedules, forecasts and cost p rojections
  • Knowledge of change order management
  • Must have solid project management experience (conception, execution to close out)
  • Generate and update internal reports relating to projects, personnel
