Positions in this function facilitate SG and A forecasts and analyze trends in SG and A, membership, medical costs, and other areas of business. Includes reporting and analysis to business and finance leadership. Researches economic progressions to assist with the organization's financial planning. Presents findings and recommendations to management. Includes responsibility for budget planning and process support.

This person must be located in Alaska, you will have the flexibility to telecommute* as you take on some tough challenges.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Functioning as Chief Financial Officer and Claims Manager for the Alaska Behavioral Health plan, responsible for customer and management reporting for the Alaska behavioral health Medicaid and non-Medicaid services
  • Serves as the Executive Director's primary point of contact for understanding financial performance of the assigned book of business and specific underlying accounts
  • Supports financial reporting requirements to the State in accordance with contract requirements
  • Provides detailed tracking and analysis related to revenue, Medicaid and non-Medicaid claims payments, and administrative costs
  • Supports management with thoughtful, actionable analysis related to claims trends; identifies and resolves claims issues by liaising with claims processing team and provider relations team
  • Ensures proper payment of Medicaid and non-Medicaid services
  • Supports leadership in ensuring alignment of State funding with services being contracted and engages with provider community as needed, driven by State budgetary changes
  • Works with corporate finance teams to establish program specific pricing and develop budgets and forecasts
  • Interfaces with Alaska management team and builds relationships in support of financial planning and performance measurement including reporting and analysis
  • Performs monthly close tasks and analysis to facilitate understanding of monthly results against the financial plan
  • Manages business relationship on behalf of the broader Finance organization and Leadership
  • Leverages technology and carry out process improvement activities

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of relevant financial analysis or accounting experience
  • 3+ years of supervisory experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or equivalent
  • Advanced skills in MS Excel, MS Office product suite, and other technology tools
  • Progressive financial work experience
  • Ability to work in a matrix environment while positively influencing other functional areas
  • Strong financial, analytical, and business acumen
  • Generate innovative approaches and solutions to business opportunities
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to influence others
  • Ability to build strong relationships at all levels of the organization
Preferred Qualifications:
  • 5 years of experience with Medicaid claims
  • MBA or CPA
  • Hyperion Essbase and PeopleSoft experience
  • Project management or process improvement experience
