We are seeking a qualified attorney for a position in the Optum Legal, Compliance and Regulatory Affairs Department with primary responsibility for providing labor and employment law advice and support to Optum. The successful candidate will have 5+ years of labor and employment law experience. The position will be based at Optum's headquarters in Eden Prairie, Minnesota.
Advise on labor and employment matters to include hiring, terminations, discrimination, wage & hour issues, disability accommodation, state and federal compliance (e.g., ADA, ADEA, Title VII, FMLA, FLSA, OFCCP and WARN Act) and investigations
Manage employment arbitrations and litigation
Support resolution of attorney demand letters, and Federal, state and local agency claims and charges
Provide comprehensive employment law support for mergers, acquisitions and joint ventures
Prepare, negotiate and evaluate risks involved with complex employment and similar agreements, including those containing employee non-competes and other restrictive covenants
Maintain a thorough knowledge of industry-leading practices and trends
Provide educational information and training on labor and employment matters

JD, with a minimum of 5+ years of legal experience focused on labor and employment matters with a law firm and/or in-house legal department
License to practice law in state of residence
Knowledge of federal and state employment laws and related compliance issues
Experience working in a fast-paced, performance-driven culture
Experience with leadership, initiative, resilience and ability to embrace change
Experience collaborating and building relationships across a highly matrixed enterprise
Experience modeling corporate values of integrity, compassion, relationships, innovation and performance
Experience advising businesses having operations in multiple states
License to practice law or ability to become licensed in MN
Experience with mergers and acquisitions
Health care industry experience
Some traditional Labor Law experience
