Graham Packaging Company is looking for a(n) Quality Technician based in Newark, Delaware. This opening is for night shift, which operates during the hours of 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. This position will operate computer software and caliper for measurement.
Quality Technicians are responsible for attaining and maintaining standards of quality for bottles as defined by drawings, product specifications and Quality Assurance procedures. Assist in the training of new personnel on the importance of quality and leadership. Responsible for monitoring the quality of finished product and packaging at start up and qualifications, both before and after packing. The primary duties of a Quality Technician include:
Understands, follows and enforces all established safety, health, quality GMP and Company policies, procedures and recognized practices.
Understands, follows and enforces all established policies, procedures and recognized practices.
Participate in continuous quality improvement projects and other related activities as assigned
Ability to analyze Statistical Process Charts (SPC) and evaluate trends.
Work closely with the Supervisor and production employees to achieve a quality product.
Train production employees on the proper techniques of measuring bottles.
Complete written documentation as required.
Assist in the training of new personnel as required.
Attend SPC classes, perform bottle audits or studies, enters data into the SPC data base and print charts and prepares summaries as needed.
Audit rejected materials/customer returns and report findings.
Maintain inspection report files per company policies or government regulations.
Qualify bottles after a mold change per work instructions.
Monitor QA supplies and requests replacements as needed.
Collect and prepare bottles for sample requests per corporate procedure.
Hold product with non-conformity according to established procedures
Perform audits on the product on every machine as established and report any visual defects for corrections according to established procedures
Test finished product for bottle dimension or performance characteristic deemed necessary according to established measurements.
Communicate about quality with other shifts and departments verbally and through written documents according to established procedures.
Limited travel may be required
A minimum of 1 to 3 years in manufacturing required. Minimum of 6 months quality experience preferred.
Quality Technicians are required to interact with managers, employees, vendors, and customers. Therefore, the following skills and proficiencies are also essential requirements of the position:
Ability to maintain regular, predictable, and punctual attendance.
Computer usage and typing skills are essential.
Excellent verbal and written communication, including the ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers.
Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service.
Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices.
Communicates effectively: conveys facts and information clearly both verbally and orally.
Collaborates well with others: proactively contributes to group objectives; volunteers to help others.
