This position will provide comprehensive technical support to Proterra’s Greenville Pre-Production Operations Manager` and other site leadership team members. You will be responsible for providing a full range of technical solutions to client groups at the site and be in an environment where you can have a greater impact.
About the Role – You will:
Maintains and upholds to high safety standards.
Work closely with mechanical/electrical design engineering groups where required. Work with product validation group to ensure product is validated to meet system requirements.
Assist in modifying and building prototype subassemblies and development vehicles.
Assists completion of prototype builds and assemblies.
Diagnostics of on vehicle low and high voltage systems.
Assists in the orientation and training of new/existing associates on various tasks. Provides assistance to department personnel in meeting department and company efficiency standards and associates job performance standards.
Maintains production and quality standards under minimal supervision; Performs minor adjustments, repairs or setups to equipment or machines.
Support the department’s preventative maintenance program for shop equipment, tools, fixtures, gauge, or machines.

This position will be part of the Greenville based PreProduction Operations team that supports Proterra’s Engineering, Manufacturing, and Validation operations in Greenville, SC.
You will report to the Preproduction operations manager and collaborate with other preproduction team members located at our Greenville SC manufacturing facility.

Your Experience Includes:
Associate degree in related field or equivalent relevant experience – Preferred but not required
Experience in the following:
Bus, heavy equipment, or automotive repair experience required
On board diagnostics experience: CAN based vehicle diagnostics and fault codes.
Knowledge in the following: Low voltage (5V-24V) and high voltage (370V), electronics, electronic systems integration, heavy wiring and lean manufacturing concepts.
Ability to read schematics to trouble shoot both low and high voltage systems.
Proficient Experience with Multimeters, High-Pot testers
Assist in modifying, building and validating harnesses; Assist in wiring and building of functional testing equipment as requested by Engineering.
Performs and validates functional test; Checks and verifies quality related to prototype builds and test systems.
CDL with “P” endorsement preferred but not required.
May work various shifts as needed; may be requested to travel to different locations.
Lifting up to 25 pounds and occasionally 50 pounds.
Able to walk, stand, crouch, bench, kneel, lift, carry and reach as needed in large and tight spaces.
Good eye/hand coordination and ability to identify color variations, depth perceptions and close or distance visual items.
Manual dexterity with occasional repetitive finger motion.
Ability to work in manufacturing environment with extreme heat and cold conditions.
Wear protective clothing or respiratory protective equipment.
