Business Analyst - Supply Chain

The Business Analyst role will join the Customer Facing IT (CFIT) Team supporting partners on the Biologics Operations Team. Biologics Operations is a worldwide industry leader in Biologics manufacturing. The CFIT Team is accountable for the services provided by the AstraZeneca IT (AZ IT) organization to that organization.
The expectations for the role include:
  • The role will be in Gaithersburg, MD, supporting key partners across the business at the site.
  • Understand business processes and systems relating to the delivery of global and local business processes and systems.
  • Understand the business needs and detail the business and system requirements that address these needs on projects and / or small initiatives.
  • Ensure that the solutions developed satisfy the needs of the business.
  • Ensure that the business extracts full business value from IT Systems.
  • Lead urgent high impact resolutions and small/medium regional business change activities.
  • Use key business specific knowledge to remove roadblocks in the delivery of enterprise projects and / or smaller initiatives.
  • Lead delivery of small 'business as usual' activities and 'last mile delivery' of larger initiatives.
Candidate Focus and Challenge
  • Take the lead on business analyst activities, passionate about working with partners supporting technology transfer, contract manufacturing, manufacturing, quality control, and supply chain processes and systems.
  • Define and draft scope and system requirements and ensure that requirements are efficiently implemented, tested, and meet business needs.
  • Collaborate closely between the IT team and the business to agree on scope and requirements.
  • Build strong strategic relationships with key partners to understand demand and expectations to drive project delivery.
  • Understand the landscape and operating model for the delivery of AZ IT solutions at the site.
  • Become a specialist on how the business processes utilize existing IT solutions and facilitate implementation of new business processes and system modifications to simplify operations.
  • Proactively find opportunities for IT to deliver innovative solutions to the business.
  • Work multi-functionally with:


Business SMEs to identify, verify and document functional and technical requirements using requirements management methodology (including Agile Delivery) and tools. Capability and Architecture Leads to ensure appropriate translation of business requirements into technical design. Business Process owners to facilitate implementation of new business processes and modifications to systems in support of business processes.

Additionally, as the need arises, the role will be required to lead partners in a Business Relationship Manager capacity. In this instance, the following focus will also be required:
  • Support customers to identify how IT can improve business performance through new ways of working and investment.
  • Develop business cases to support the value proposition for new business demand.
Essential
  • Bachelor's Degree in relevant discipline or formal certification in business analysis practice or equivalent.
  • Understanding of the business processes and IT required to support manufacturing, testing, and distribution operations
  • Strong verbal, written communication, facilitation, virtual teamwork, partner management, and presentation skills
  • Experience working in a Global IT Organization with sophisticated/geographical context
  • Experience with sophisticated integrated systems, using creative and critical thinking to deliver results
  • Experience delivering enterprise solutions using SAP
Desirable
  • Experience working in a Regulated industry (e.g. Power Generation, Automotive, Financial, Pharmaceutical, etc.)
  • Experience working in the Biopharmaceutical industry
  • Experience in delivering IT solutions in a GxP environment
  • Knowledge of Biologics Manufacturing
  • Knowledge of Agile and Lean practices
  • Experience of business process and solution design in solutions such as Labware LIMS, MODA, Discoverant, OSISoft Historian, and SIMCA
  • Experience of business process and solution design around the Logistics processes and data in SAP (Specifically Sales Order to Cash, Inventory Management, Procurement to Pay processes within the Sales and Distribution (SD), Materials Management (MM) modules, and Quality Management (QM) modules)
