Job Summary: Select, design and lead Continuous Inprovement initiatives across all Mueller Water Products business segments. Measure process improvements, develop best practices and conduct project management. Train, coach, mentor and act as change agent to instill continuous improvement/cost reduction culture throughout the organization using proven methodologies- Strategic Deployment Process (SDP), LEAN, DMAIC and others
Set MWP Operational Excellence strategy and lead process improvement initiatives with business leaders ensuring the initiatives are aligned with business strategy.
Use appropriate process improvement tools and methodologies to lead Lean Six Sigma projects that deliver significant operational improvement and financial benefits within MWP operations.
Train and coach project teams in the proper use of process improvement tools and methodologies to ensure timely completion of projects.
Manage projects using appropriate process improvement tools and methodologies such as DMAIC, DFSS, etc.
Act as lead MWP change agent to champion and instill a Lean Six Sigma culture throughout MWP; develop and implement company-wide training initiatives in support of this objective.
Monitor performance and improvements in key metrics; support process owners to clearly link project metrics to strategic operational objectives using SDP principles.
Design and deliver presentations and facilitated work sessions to MWP senior management.
Skills, Knowledge, Abilities and Traits:
Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field
Six Sigma Master Black Belt Certification; Formal Lean training
8+ years of process improvement experience in a unionized heavy manufacturing environment, with at least 5 years experience leading and executing process improvement projects in a dedicated Lean Six Sigma position.
3 years experience supervising project leaders and teaching Lean and DMAIC methodology.
Must have completed 10+ manufacturing related projects using Lean / Six Sigma techniques and several projects using the DMAIC process.
Capable of using statistical tools such as DOE, Comparative Analysis, Regression Analysis, ANOVA, SPC, Gage R&R and FMEA.
Demonstrated strengths in project management processes and methodologies.
Broad business knowledge and ability to link customer needs with business processes.
An understanding of and proficiency in change management, business process management and DFSS.
Strong combination of conceptual and analytical ability.
Collaborative work style with ability to influence others.
Demonstrated ability to deliver results with a flexible, adaptable style that recognizes organizational culture norms.
Excellent communication skills with ability to influence others and effectively champion ideas with high level of energy and enthusiasm.
Ability to travel as needed (approximately 40%)
