Job Description:

Under minimal supervision, apply extensive knowledge of optical spectroscopy (principally FTIR, NIR, and Raman) to provide insight to multi-disciplinary project teams during product development and scale-up.


  • Experimental designs and executions, data extractions and analysis, modify and optimize experiments, conceive and develop new experiments.

  • Provide guidance on new instrumentation design, expansion, and improvement.

  • Investigate optical spectroscopy, assist on providing design guidance in developing of novel spectroscopy based analytical instruments.

  • Review, develop, and prepare project documentation following standards, practices, and use of research tools as recommended by governing department.

  • Communicate with customers, third-party project representatives, and other company departments to meet assigned project requirements and schedule.

  • Evaluate the science behind new product ideas from internal and external sources and as well as assist in new product generation and project implementation.

  • Assist in building initial prototypes and demonstrating new principles.

  • Develop test procedures and conduct product tests.

  • Develop specifications for third-party equipment and instrumentation.

  • Coordinate assigned project work with technical and administrative personnel.

  • Travel to customer site (international and domestic) for project meetings, site surveys, startups and training.

  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures.

  • Respond to change productively and handle other duties as required


Education & Experience:

  • M.S. in analytical chemistry, physics, engineering, or related field is minimum required

  • Ph.D. in spectroscopy, photonics, analytical chemistry, applied physics, or electrical engineering is preferred

  • Minimum three years of experience working with experimental techniques and analytical instruments

  • Knowledge, understanding, and experience with spectral analysis techniques

  • Four to six years of industry related experience required

  • Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures
