Overview / Responsibilities

Wood Environment & Infrastructure Solutions is currently seeking a Mid-Level Architect to join our pharmaceutical group in Center City Philadelphia, Pennsylvania office. Wood is looking for an energetic, self-motivated, individual with the ability to execute all phases of design including initial programming, planning, feasibility, scope and concept development, detailed design, construction documentation, and construction administration. The successful candidate shall display a solid working knowledge of the International Building Code and construction document preparation (e.g. graphics, detailing and specifications) as well as organization and distribution during all stages of development (e.g. review, bid, permit, etc.). Project sizes will vary and will include both existing building improvements and new construction

Responsibilities:
  • Performs various tasks in each of the three project phases: Design Development; Construction Documents; Construction Administration
  • Daily activities include problem-solving on both large projects and small consultations for project managers and other disciplines
  • Provides a wide range of ground-level architectural services while maintaining a sense of urgency and prioritization of tasks
  • Participates and coordinates the preparation and quality of contract documents, including drawings and specifications
  • Responsible to review and rectify the design related to all applicable Codes and produce documents including Life-Safety, Egress, and General Code Compliance drawings and narratives.
  • Coordinates multiple-discipline overlays, construction techniques, and sequences
  • Performs site observations such as recording and reporting of existing conditions and construction progress
  • Effectively addresses problems and questions as they occur during construction
  • Writes reports such as feasibility studies, design criteria, and recommendations
  • Responsible for coordination of all aspects of other disciplines as they affect the building envelope and interior
  • Traveling maybe required for project development and execution
  • The candidate will follow projects through approvals and construction


Skills / Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Architecture (5 year program) or Master of Architecture (M.Arch.)
  • Architectural licensure preferred
  • Minimum 6 years experience
  • Previous pharmaceutical architectural design experience preferred
  • Willingness and Qualifications to obtain NCARB certification
  • Knowledgeable with architectural software packages:
    • AutoCAD
    • Revit
    • Sketchup
  • Experience in preparing Specifications preferred
  • Flexibility to travel (moderate) required
  • Knowledge of cGMPs preferred
  • International experience a plus
