Overview / Responsibilities

Wood is seeking a Lead Water Treatment Operator (LWTO) who will serve in a lead capacity and responsible for day-to-day O&M of the Central Treatment Plant (CTP) and Ground Water Collection System (GWCS) in accordance with regulatory requirements. Responsibilities include the following; Chief Operator or qualified designee present at the site during the work week; authority to supervise all site work; maintain close communication with Amec Foster Wheeler O&M Manager; ensure work performed to applicable specifications and regulations; and preparation of daily logs. The LWTO ensures safe, reliable and efficient operation of equipment, the transport and treatment of impacted mine water, and monitoring of treatment effectiveness. The LWTO manages and supervises O&M personnel.

Key Responsibilities

The LWTO is responsible for the following tasks:
  • Provide daily status updates to management and other designated personnel
  • Determine and maintain operating parameters for the CTP and GWCS in consultation with management and other designated personnel
  • Troubleshooting of CTP and GWCS technical problems
  • Oversee the collection and submittal of samples for laboratory analysis per the sampling and analysis plan
  • Submittal of chain-of-custody forms, field data sheets, and sample summary logs to management and other designated personnel
  • Schedule and oversee the completion of daily, weekly, monthly, etc. maintenance as required by equipment O&M manuals
  • Coordinate all maintenance activities
  • Schedule and manage O&M personnel
  • Train O&M personnel as necessary
  • Maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and the CTP and GWCS O&M manual
  • Support day-to-day operations of the CTP and GWCS

The LWTO will report directly to management and other designated personnel and is expected to work on-site five days a week.

Skills / Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 5 years of related experience as a water treatment operator
  • Idaho wastewater professional licensure - Class I minimum
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Valid driver's license is required
  • Flexibility to work outside normal business hours as required
  • Ability to supervise all site work activities involved in completing the daily O&M responsibilities and lead any necessary off-hour emergency responses
  • Technical knowledge in all portions of the site work involved in completing the daily O&M responsibilities
  • Trained in the 40-hour OSHA Hazardous Waste Operations course, and the current with 8-hour refresher courses in addition to other relevant training including other OSHA regulate activities but not limited to lockout/tagout or confined space entry as needed
  • Knowledge of applicable Federal, state, and local laws and regulations
  • Ability to effectively communicate and manage customer expectations
  • Ability to locate, coordinate, and utilize resources within their own organization
  • Work experience with the proven ability to effectively manage subcontracts
  • Be trained or experienced in the collection, preservation, and general handling of plant and surface water samples
  • Minimal travel anticipated
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the US without sponsorship
  • Must pass drug test, background check and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company's driving (MVR) policy
