POSITION SUMMARY:* The individual will be a Board-Certified Chaplain with the Association of Professional Chaplains who is responsible for providing pastoral care to patients, family members, staff, physicians, and other community members as called upon to do so. Such responsibilities include visitation of patients, spiritual support of patients, family members, staff, and physicians, and counseling on spiritual issues. The Chaplain is responsible for the Volunteer Pastoral Care Program to include screening of applicants, assuring all applicants meet occupational health and human resource requirements, training of volunteers for hospital-based ministry, and scheduling to assure 24/7 coverage of the facility by faith-based providers.* The Chaplain will serve an integral role on the Ethics Committee, including participation in the call schedule, and the Palliative Care service at the hospital to include end-of-life decisions and discussions with patients and families.* This individual supports an organizational culture for Service Excellence and practices the Service Excellence standards with all customer groups.* Northwest is a 495 bed system serving the city of Amarillo and the surrounding region. EDUCATION, TRAINING, EXPERIENCE AND LICENSES/REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED: Master's degree in Divinity (M.Div.) or equivalent degree from an accredited seminary or University Four or more units of ACPE CPE, faith group endorsement Board eligible by Association of Professional Chaplains.* Certification must be obtain within 2 years of hire Pastoral experience in congregation and/or hosptial At least 5 years of pastoral experience (3 units of Clinical Pastoral Education may be substituted for 1 year of pastoral experience). * Physical Requirements Ability to read and write in English Ability to speak and hear, to allow discussions with employees and peers Ability to cope with and remain calm under stress Ability to respond to pages Ability to evaluate and interpret information and make independent decisions Bending and lifting (5-10 lbs), grasping, fine hand coordination, pushing, and pulling Ability to understand and interpret financial data
