Intertek, a leading provider of ATIC (Assurance, Testing, Inspection and Certification) Services, is looking for a Virology Scientist to join our Electrical team in Columbus, OH.

The electrical team provides assurance, testing, inspection and certification for a variety of electric products, including appliances, consumer electronics, lighting, medical devices, information communications technology, HVACR, industrial, and energy transmission and distribution. Our dedicated professionals help ensure the quality and safety of electrical products used by people throughout the world.


This position is responsible for independently performing testing and evaluation on a variety of products to the provisions of virology, immunology and microbiology test protocols; writing reports; and communicating with clients. This position is also responsible for providing local expertise in one or more product categories and mentoring and training less senior technical personnel.


This position reports to Operations Manager.

  • Viral transfection and propagation (BSL-1 and BSL-2)
  • Culture of various cell/tissue types (including mammalian)
  • Testing to various microbiological methods (such as ISO and ASTM)
  • Instruction of other employees in virology related techniques
  • General responsibilities related to maintenance of BSL-1,BSL-2 and virology laboratories
  • Preparation of technical proposal and reports
  • Ability to communicate with clients and technicians to keep projects moving and on schedule
  • Ability to self-manage and make decisions during all phases of a project
  • Ability to explain complex technical ideas to clients
  • Perform other duties as necessary



  • 4+ Years of experience in virology
  • Master’s Degree or Higher education preferred – Virology, Immunology, Microbiology
  • Strong technical proposal and report writing abilities

  • Ability to work in fast-paced, multi-tasking environment with shifting priorities and demanding deadlines

  • Ability to communicate and interact effectively in verbal written and presentation formats
  • Must possess the fundamental technical and administrative skills required to perform the job duties
  • Must be customer focused and quality driven
  • Ability to travel as business needs dictate


  • GLP/GMP knowledge and experience preferred
  • Professional registration/certification is desired
