MTM, Inc. continues to grow and we are seeking a Director, Public Affairs

The Director, Public Affairs is responsible for building and maintaining relationships with individuals in state government and managed care organizations to assist and secure MTM with future growth opportunities. This role will work closely with the Business Development and Sales teams as new leads are identified and pursued.  

This position will be a remote work from home position


  • Primary responsibilities will include working on government and legislative initiatives.

  • Monitor, track and analyze relevant issues, including specific legislation, regulatory issues and other initiatives that will impact the organization

  • Produce material for external use which includes: reports, updates, position letters, etc.

  • Create and maintain a variety of written material to help advance MTM’s Public Affairs goals including talking points, issue briefs, internal memos, background materials, etc

  • Partner with the VP, Public Affairs to determine MTM’s position on various regulations/initiatives and communicate position effectively

  • Work closely with the VP, Public affairs to ensure the ongoing engagement of key legislative activity

  • Attend conferences and engage in speaking opportunities to increase brand awareness, company mission and goals

  • Act as a representative of MTM at different events throughout the country

  • Utilize effective relationships with targeted managed care organizations to help develop sales leads and future business opportunities

  • Build and maintain a strong relationship foundation with lobbyist

  • Anticipate trends in external environment that will affect MTM and develops plans to address areas of concern

  • Create internal communication and briefings to relevant business leaders

  • Communicate information about organization’s services to clients, vendors, governmental agencies/employees and the general public

  • Act as a liaison between MTM and Lobbyist to ensure defined objectives and goals are completed

  • Work cross-functionally with all MTM departments and staff

  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Government, Political Science, or Communication

  • Master’s degree preferred

  • Must possess a valid driver’s license

  • Minimum 8 years government relations experience

  • Experience in the health care and/or transportation preferred

  • Ability to travel overnight 50% of the time

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interface with MTM colleagues at all levels of the organization

  • Must be a strategic planner with sound technical skills, analytical ability, good judgment and strong operational focus

  • Must be highly organized and have the ability to prioritize work

  • Must be able to handle multiple projects, meet deadlines and adapt to a changing business environment

  • Effective leadership and team-building skills

  • Ability to make effective and persuasive speeches and presentations on controversial or complex topics to all levels of individuals both inside and outside the organization

  • Diverse experiences in managing a range of responsibility

  • Mastery of oral, written, presentation and facilitation skills

  • Ability to work cordially, professionally, and diplomatically in dynamic environment with ongoing display of sound judgment in dealing with sensitive interpersonal and business matters

  • Supervisory experience

  • Ability to maintain high level of confidentiality
