If you are a/an Engineering professional looking for an opportunity to grow, Emerson has an exciting opportunity for you! Based in our Sidney, OH location, you will provide sustaining support for existing HVAC products including, but not limited to, fixed speed, variable speed or other modulation enhanced compressors. You will be responsible for supporting customers, plants and suppliers in efforts to reduce cost, improve efficiency, improve reliability, and enable incremental value growth. You will also be responsible for the generation, evaluation, development, and maturation of ideas and engineering concepts. In addition, you will provide engineering direction and execution of projects into full production while working in a cross-functional team-orientated environment with local and global colleagues. AS A PROJECT ENGINEER, YOU WILL:
Demonstrate strong project management ability in the execution of independently run projects and test campaigns
Conceive, mature, qualify, and implement technologies for product improvement and cost reduction per business objectives
Solve product issues using a structured team-based problem-solving approach
Identify opportunities to reduce cost and lead projects to execute cost reduction programs
Participate in global collaboration and coordination with technical colleagues for product support initiatives
Collaborate with internal and external customers and cross-functional colleagues by communicating technical and project information
Utilize existing calculators and engineering tools as well as facilitation of creation of new design and analysis tools as needed/appropriate.
Define and execute development and testing plans based with a mindset towards risk mitigation, and coordinate with appropriate resources for timely execution
Apply and support the incorporation of Lean principles and techniques into the New Product Development process.
Formulate and share project updates and technical findings as needed.

SCHEDULE:We offer the flexibility of a core hour work schedule. Employees can flex their start and stop times given they are working during the core hours of 9:00AM-3:00PM. Our teams work together to ensure their chosen work schedules are supporting our customers. This team has regular early morning or late night meetings required for global collaboration. These can be done from home using web conferencing.
REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering Technology plus one (1) year of relevant industry experience (Co-op or Internship Experience may be considered)
Independent thinker capable of leading cross functional programs in a matrix organization
Project management skills including developing program schedules, and aiding team decisions
Technical problem-solving abilities
Strong communications skills and ability to collaborate with a variety of stakeholders

PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:
Two (2) or more years of relevant industry experience
Established track record in global collaboration and global product development
A basic working knowledge of manufacturing methods for compressor manufacturing: Assembly, casting, machining, welding, etc
A basic working knowledge of advanced analytical techniques and how to deploy them
Experience with Minitab or other statistical software
Experience with Lean methodologies, Lean product development, and passion for continuous improvement
HVAC systems awareness, ability to integrate compressor with power electronics and other system controls
