This position will design and implement Business Intelligence (BI) solutions through the creation of data warehouses, data marts, and data stores while ensuring high levels of data availability. The DW Architect will be an evangelist for BI/DW benefits across the organization and promote BI usage to relevant departments. Applying a strong understanding of the government health care environment, this individual will architect solutions on the conceptual, logical, business area, and application levels. Using a high level of data warehouse analysis and design experience, with full knowledge of data warehouse methodologies and data modeling, the DW Architect will create models for new data warehouse development and changes to existing data stores.
Conducts or participates in meetings with organizational stakeholders to identify and build data warehouse architectures that meet business requirements.
Defines data standards and models for warehouse architectures.
Designs a target data architecture that satisfies information needs.
Develops implementation plans for building target data architecture incrementally, over time.
Conducts or participates in design sessions with both key technical team members and business owners to design (extract, transform, load) ETL solutions for loading the data warehouse.
Designs reporting and analytical applications that leverage the data warehouse to ensure a manageable ETL infrastructure for the BI system.
Participates in the establishment of business performance metrics and measures to support key business objectives.
Enforces the change control process for the data architecture artifacts.
Manages the data quality and metadata environments, including coordinating technical staff to develop database architectures, coding standards, and QA policies and procedures.
Leads the development and implementation of normalized and dimensional data models (logical and physical) to support reporting and analytics, data warehouse, data marts and data stores including the ETL used to populate those databases.
Plans, designs and implements capacity and resource expansion to ensure data warehouse scalability, redundant systems, policies, and procedures for disaster recovery and data archiving to ensure effective availability, protection, and integrity of data assets.
Collaborates with the technical team to design, code, test, and document all new or modified BI systems, applications, and programs.
Analyzes user requirements and design functional specifications for BI front-end applications.
Identifies inefficiencies and gaps in current data warehouses and leverages solutions; further identifies data discrepancies and data quality issues, and works to ensures that data consistency and data warehouse improvement and growth projects continue.

Conduct and participate in meetings and information gathering workshops with key technical owners and business owners to understand current data, systems environment and business needs.
Build consensus and work effectively within cross-departmental teams; mentor and provide leadership to members of the team.

Required Experience Experience & Education:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering or a related field, required.
7 years of IT/IS experience in a large company environment required; preferably in Health Care.
7 years of experience architecting data warehousing and business intelligence solutions required.
4 years of experience implementing data integration platform using advanced methods with Microsoft technologies such as SQL Server, SSRS, SSIS, SSAS, etc., required.
4 years of experience working with and developing normalized and dimensional data models (logical and physical) required.
4 years of experience working with ETL methodologies, data marts, and operational data required.
Experience architecting BI solutions highly desired.
Experience supporting JAD sessions and implementing data warehousing/business intelligence solutions in an SQL environment highly desired.
Data warehousing concepts and design.
SQL Server development including database design and stored procedures.
Microsoft Analysis Services and Microsoft Reporting Services development and support.
Modeling and repository tools such as ER/Studio.
SSIS packages and ETL development.
Agile and SDLC Methodologies.
Team Foundation Server.
BI Technologies and Microsoft Office Suite.
