The Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP) Coordinator Senior serves as the lead person responsible for EFNEP in Pierce County. The position s main responsibilities include paraprofessional educator supervision, maintaining community partner relationships and policy system and environmental change implementation to support healthy lifestyles. This position uses independent judgment to organize, coordinate, and evaluate EFNEP programming.

The Coordinator Senior works closely with the EFNEP State Leader, other Extension staff and community partners in developing the program to ensure that activities meet the requirements of the NIFA EFNEP Policy Guidelines. With this funding source, WSU EFNEP teaches youth and adults with limited incomes to develop skills and behaviors to eat healthfully. This position works closely with the Pierce SNAP-Ed Coordinator Supervisor to ensure coordinated programming. Additional Information


Program Administration, 55%
Use independent judgment to recruit, screen, hire, train, supervise and direct work of
paraprofessional program staff and support staff in consultation with EFNEP State Leader.

Plan, develop, deliver, and evaluate policy, systems and environmental change
strategies to support direct nutrition education.

Originate, develop, review, select, adapt, and implement appropriate technology
interventions that aligns with WSU, Pierce County and national EFNEP technology

Implement program priorities, objectives and schedules.

Prepare and/or adapt appropriate local materials, such as newsletters or media contacts targeted to diverse low-income audiences.

Participate as a member of the State EFNEP team.

Support EFNEP statewide projects and EFNEP related research.

Relationship Building and Maintaining, 20%
Identify, recruit, and maintain relationships with community partners in coordination with
the SNAP-Ed program.

Collaborate with key local individuals and institutions to develop a plan for delivering
nutrition education and complimentary policy, systems and environmental change
strategies for low-income audiences.

Build and maintain relationships with potential local program partners and coordinate networking opportunities.

Educate potential community and program partners about the importance of nutrition
education and complimentary policy, systems and environmental change strategies for low-income audiences that address obesity and hunger prevention.

Establish strong links within WSU Extension to ensure project objectives are met. Lead
technology initiatives that support program reach, recruitment and visibility.

Fiscal Accountability, Data Management and Reporting, 20%
Monitor the project budget for Pierce County EFNEP program.

Collect, synthesize and analyze data to generate reports for the program.

Complete and submit all reports, evaluation, expenses, travel, and other project and
position related paperwork in compliance with Funding Agency, University, and
State/Federal requirements.

Evaluate and document activities and impacts of Pierce County EFNEP.

Other, 5%
Participate in statewide and local trainings.

Complete orientation activities and maintain knowledge of Washington State University
Extension program procedures and policies.

Become familiar with local and state, and national resources (i.e.http://efnep.org)

Maintain professional competencies in subject matter, educational methods and
theories, and societal conditions related to nutrition education and complimentary policy, system and environmental change strategies with limited income audiences.

100 Position Term in Months 12 Monthly Salary Commensurate with Qualifications and Experience. Required Qualifications

A Bachelor s degree in a relevant extension program discipline and three (3) years of related program experience. A Masters degree in a related field may be substituted for up to one year of the required experience. Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis. Additional Requirements

While using a private vehicle for official business, the successful candidate must have current automobile liability insurance (meeting the requirements described in and ) and possess a valid driver s license.

Must be able to work evening and weekends.

Must be able and willing to travel locally and out of state.

Must have reliable transportation.

Master s in Nutrition or Public Health

Registered Dietitian (RDN)
