Job Description:

We are seeking Student Help in the Microbiology department to:

  • Support the Lab by making reagents, stocking supplies, aliquoting reagents, filing and xeroxing while using proper laboratory techniques.

  • Work with microbial isolates for susceptibility testing.

  • Interact, communicate and assist with Clinical Lab staff as needed.


Minimum – High School Diploma or equivalent; enrollment in post-secondary educational degree program.

Work Experience:

Minimum - Experience in an office environment. 

Preferred - Experience with lab equipment.

Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:

  • Effective oral and written communication skills

  • Ability to organize work

  • Efficiency and time management skills

  • Competence in problem resolution

  • Ability to work independently and as a team member

  • Knowledge of and ability to use Windows based applications

Physical Requirements:

Light: Ability to lift up to 20 pounds maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 10 pounds. 

Work Schedule:

This is not a seasonal position as we are looking for a long term 12 month commitment. This position requires 2-3 hours per day, Monday through Friday between the hours of 10:00 am to 3:00 pm. Every other weekend hours from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. No on-call required.
