Job Summary

 

The Shipping Supervisor plans, organizes, supervises, and controls activities related to the outbound shipments of finished goods from our warehouse facility to customers.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (include the following: Other duties may be assigned)

 


  • Develop systems to manage and maintain accuracy of finished goods inventory

  • Conduct and verify spot counts for auditing and records

  • Monitor and maintain warehouse and yard inventories

  • Maintain warehouse and chip lot to accommodate varying inventory levels

  • Supply rail routes for new and existing customers

  • Set and coordinate dock appointments

  • Coordinate and direct outbound shipments

  • Analyze production schedule to determine when product will be ready for shipment

  • Help load/unload finished goods trucks

  • Coordinate with accounts payable, customers, and vendors when issues arise on outbound shipments and/or sales orders

  • Maintain systems for accurate shipping to customers

  • Liaison with customers and trucking companies when issues occur with outbound shipments

 

Supervisory Responsibilities

 


  •  Supervises Shipping Leads and Forklift Operators

Education and Experience

 


  • Bachelor’s Degree and experience in shipping and inventory control are required for this position or some education with 3-5 years of warehouse experience in a supervisory role will be considered. 

  • This position requires strong interpersonal and excellent customer service skills. 

  • Seeking someone who is proacitve and flexible.

 

Computer Skills

 


  • This position requires intermediate knowledge of MS Office or comparable computer software

  • Use ERP system and handheld scanners.

  • Have knowledge of or the ability to learn ROSS ERP facilities applicable to your position.

 

Language Skills

 


  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, excel spreadsheets, and intercompany communication forms is a necessity. 

  • Must also be able to speak effectively in front of groups of customers/associates.

 

Mathematical Skills

 


  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume, and the ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry are required.

 

Reasoning Ability

 


  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardizations exist; ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram and schedule form.

Training

 


  • Associate’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to Attend all scheduled classes/training and demonstrate proficiency in subject matter once training complete. 

  • Conduct hands on training for new associates and provide proper feedback to associates.

  • Evaluate and know company’s standard operating procedures for all warehouse activities. Train associates on standard operating procedures.

 

Safety

 



  • Your responsibilities include but are not limited to:


    • Be knowledgeable with OSHA’s forklift and material handling regulations.

    • Comply with all safety rules and precautions associated with your position and equipment you operate; Wear the appropriate safety equipment throughout designated areas at each AERT facility

    • Provide all associates with the safest work environment possible, including safe equipment and tools to work with. 



 



  • Additionally, it is your responsibility to: 


    • Ensure that associates are wearing the appropriate safety equipment in the designated areas under your control

    • Notify safety representatives of any accidents or incidents that occur

    • Fill out safety forms when accidents or incidents occur

    • Scrutinize daily equipment inspection sheets for safety discrepancies and report these to department director and safety manager. 



 

Quality

 


  • Product quality is the responsibility of all associates. 

  • We need to assure our customers that our products meet or exceed our manufacturing standards.   

  • Understanding product specification and permissible defects limitations are a must. 

  • Become familiar and comply with written procedures regarding defective products. 

  • Immediately notify proper manager of issue. 

  • Evaluate associates concerns regarding quality with appropriate representatives.

 

Housekeeping

 


  • Maintain housekeeping in your area throughout the entire shift with special attention to the following: 


    • Keep all exits and fire extinguishers clear and accessible

    • Ensure all floor areas are kept in order and swept

    • Keep all floors, ledges, and catwalks clear of all debris during your shift

    • Check and replace all guards that are removed 

    • Immediately report any guards that are missing to manager and record it on your paperwork 

    • Ensure all company proprietary and sensitive documents are secured from public view when not in use.
